Zillow Group Appoints Slack Exec as Board Member
Online real estate database company Zillow Group appointed April Underwood to the company's Board of Directors. Underwood is VP of product at Slack. She joined Slack as head of platform in June 2015. Underwood also is a founding member of #Angels. From 2010 until 2015, Underwood led product, marketing and business development teams as director of product at Twitter.
Adobe CAO to Retire
Adobe announced that retirement of Richard Rowley as Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Adobe following 10 years of service. Rowley currently expects to remain in his role until January 31, 2017. Rowley has been the Chief Accounting Officer, VP and Controller at Adobe since November 2006. Rowley was previously employed as Treasurer, CAO, VP & Controller by Synopsys.
Oracle Appoints Former Intel President Renée J. James as Newest Board Member
Renée J. James, 51, joined the board of directors of Oracle. James was previously the President of Intel. James has a 25 plus year career at Intel. Prior to becoming President, she served as EVP and General Manager of Software & Services Group. James joined Intel in 1987 as the Product Manager and progressed through variety of roles with increasing responsibilities.
Microsoft Expands Board by Appointing Activist Investor
Microsoft appoints Mason Morfit, president of ValueAct Capital, to the company's board. ValueAct Capital is a San Francisco-based investment firm with a $2 billion stake in Microsoft, which entered into a cooperation agreement to have Morfit join the board. Before joining ValueAct Capital in early 2001, Morfit worked in equity research for Credit Suisse First Boston. He is also a director of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International and a former director of Advanced Medical Optics, C. R. Bard, Immucor, MSD Performance and Solexa.
Microsoft Goes Through Board, CEO and Series of Senior Leadership Changes
Microsoft appointed Satya Nadella, 46, as CEO and member of the Board. Nadella previously held the position of EVP of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group. Since joining the company in 1992, Nadella has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts across the company’s portfolio of products and services, most notably the company’s move to the cloud and the development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures supporting Bing, Xbox, Office and other services. He has overseen the Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business, led R&D for the Online Services Division and was VP of the Microsoft Business Division. Before joining Microsoft, Nadella was a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems.
