Amazon.com elected Daniel P. Huttenlocher as a director of the company. Huttenlocher has been founding Dean and Vice Provost, Cornell Tech at Cornell University since 2012, and has worked for Cornell University since 1988 in various positions. Huttenlocher has served as a director of Corning since February 2015.

Ericsson announced a series of organizational and structural changes to strengthen strategy execution to drive growth and profitability. The company will have two business units focusing on the IT & Cloud business: BU IT & Cloud Products, headed by Anders Lindblad, SVP, Head of Business Unit IT & Cloud Products and a member of the ELT. BU IT & Cloud Services, headed by Jean-Philippe Poirault, SVP, Head of Business Unit IT & Cloud Services and a member of the ELT.
VMware Goes Through Major Board and Leadership Shuffle
VMware elected Anthony J. Bates, 48, and Donald J. Carty, 69, to its board of directors. Carty joined the board in December 2015 and Bates joined on February 8, 2016. Bates currently serves as president and member of the board of directors at GoPro. Prior to GoPro, Bates was the EVP, Business Development and Evangelism of Microsoft and prior to that was the CEO of Skype until its acquisition by Microsoft in 2011.
Apple’s Car Project Leader Is Leaving; Makes New Leadership Appointments
Steve Zadesky, the veteran Apple executive overseeing the company’s electric car project is leaving. Zadesky, a former Ford Motor engineer who has overseen the car project for the last two years, and who tripled the size of Apple’s automotive team, is leaving the company for personal reasons. Zadesky spent nearly 17 years at Apple, where he built and led the teams for the first iPod, first iPhone, all subsequent iPhones and iPods and hundreds of Apple accessories.
SAP Names New President of Industry Cloud
SAP recently appointed Pat Bakey as President of the Industry Cloud organization. Bakey will be responsible for the industry cloud footprint at SAP, which covers 25 industries globally, the finance and extended supply chain lines of business and the go-to-market execution of SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA (SAP S/4HANA).

Google reorganizes itself into a new holding company, Alphabet, whose largest wholly owned subsidiary will be Google. Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt will be the Executive Chairman of Alphabet. From 2001-2011, Eric served as Google’s CEO, overseeing the company’s technical and business strategy alongside founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Prior to joining Google, Eric was the Chairman and CEO of Novell and CTO at Sun Microsystem.

SVP of Corporate Development, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of Google David C. Drummond will be the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary. The company’s Chief Business Officer, Omid Kordistani, will step down and become an adviser to Alphabet and Google.
Splunk Hires GE Capital Divisional CIO and Technology Innovator as CTO
Splunk has appointed Snehal Antani as CTO to work across Splunk’s rapidly expanding cloud, mobile, on-premises and hybrid offerings. Antani previously served as CIO for multiple divisions of GE Capital. Prior to GE Capital, Antani served in numerous IT strategy and technology roles at IBM, including Emerging Technologies Lead Architect and Private Cloud Strategist. He is a named inventor on 10 U.S. patents.
