Google Taps Morgan Stanley's Ruth Porat as CFO; Changes at Google X and Google+ Units
Google hired Morgan Stanley CFO Ruth Porat, 57, as its own CFO. Porat has helped execute a sweeping cost-cutting strategy across several business lines at Morgan Stanley. She served as the Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group, Vice Chairman of Investment Banking, and Chairman of the Financial Sponsors Group. Porat began her career with Morgan Stanley in 1987 in the Mergers and Acquisition Department.
Uber CFO Brent Callinicos Steps Down; Will Become Advisor to the Company
Uber CFO Brent Callinicos, CPA, 48, is stepping down after nearly two years of leading financing rounds that have seen the car-booking service become one of the most valuable venture-backed start-ups. Under Callinicos’ financial direction, Uber has raised more than $5 billion in funding and seen its valuation grow to $41.2 billion. Callinicos states in his resignation that he takes the decision to step down to take a break and spend time with his family, as he stays on as an advisor to Uber. Callinicos joined Uber in 2013 from Google, where he was VP, Treasurer and Chief Accountant.
