Cisco Exec Joins Comcast as SVP, Premises Technology
Comcast appoints Ken Klaer as Senior Vice President, Premises Technology, leading the team that develops innovative CPE devices used to deliver Comcast's video, voice, data and cross-platform applications in customers' homes. Klaer comes to Comcast from Cisco, where he most recently was part of their Service Provider Video Technology Group as Senior Director, Business Development Connected Devices BU. Prior to that he held key senior management roles at Scientific Atlanta, which was acquired by Cisco.
Target Hires Former Homeland Security Tech Adviser as New CIO after Massive Data Breach Last Year
Target has named Robert P. “Bob” DeRodes, 62, as its new EVP & CIO. He replaces Beth M. Jacob, 51, who abruptly left in early March, after a massive data breach last year. DeRodes assumes responsibility for Target’s data security efforts, as well as the development of Target’s long-term IT and digital roadmap. He has been a senior IT advisor for the Center for CIO Leadership, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Target’s CIO Resigns; iCIO and CISO to be Appointed Shortly
Target’s CIO Beth Jacob is resigning as the retailer overhauls its information security and compliance division in the wake of a massive pre-Christmas data breach. Jacob had been in her current role since 2008 and oversaw teams in the U.S. and India. Target will name an interim CIO to work through the transition. The company will also be elevating the role of the CISO and hiring externally for the position.
Honeywell Nominates Former CFO of Hyperion Solutions for Board
Honeywell nominated Robin Washington, 50, SVP and CFO, Gilead Sciences and former CFO of Hyperion Solutions, to its Board of Directors. Washington joined Gilead in her current role in 2008. In this role, she spearheads Gilead's global finance, investor relations, and information technology organizations. Prior to her time at Gilead, Washington served as CFO of Hyperion Solutions, an enterprise software company that was acquired by Oracle in 2007. Washington also spent nearly ten years at PeopleSoft, where she became SVP and Corporate Controller. Prior to this role, Washington assumed other senior roles including Director, Finance, International Operations as well as Director, Finance, EMEA. She currently serves on the Board of the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose.
Facebook Nabs Brunswick Exec for Top Communications Job
Brunswick Group's US managing partner Michael Buckley is leaving the agency for a top communications role at Facebook. He has been working with Facebook on a range of corporate and other PR issues over the last several years will be joining the social networking giant as VP of business communications. Buckley has been with the global strategy and communications consultancy Brunswick Group, one of Facebook’s outside agencies, where he represented a number of clients. Before Brunswick, he served as senior MD and national director of the litigation group at Hill & Knowlton.
