Visa CEO and Kraft Foods’ CFO Join Microsoft’s Board; Couple of Long-Time Directors Leave

Visa’s CEO Charles W. Scharf, 49, and Kraft Foods’ EVP and CFO Teri List-Stoll, 51, are joining as board members of Microsoft. Scharf has served as CEO and a director of Visa since November 2012. Previously, he was a Managing Director of One Equity Partners, the private investment arm of JPMorgan Chase, CEO of Retail Financial Services at JPMorgan Chase, CEO of the retail division of Bank One Corporation, CFO of Bank One, CFO of the Global Corporate and Investment Bank division at Citigroup, and CFO of Salomon Smith Barney.

Apple to go Through CFO Transition This Year

Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's SVP and CFO, will retire this year. Luca Maestri, Apple's VP of Finance and corporate controller, will succeed Oppenheimer as CFO. Oppenheimer started with Apple in 1996 as controller for the Americas, and in 1997 was promoted to VP and Worldwide Sales controller and then to corporate controller. Oppenheimer joined Apple from Automatic Data Processing (ADP), where he was CFO of one of the four strategic business units. Before that, he spent six years in the IT Consulting Practice with Coopers and Lybrand.

Microsoft Goes Through Board, CEO and Series of Senior Leadership Changes

Microsoft appointed Satya Nadella, 46, as CEO and member of the Board. Nadella previously held the position of EVP of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group. Since joining the company in 1992, Nadella has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts across the company’s portfolio of products and services, most notably the company’s move to the cloud and the development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures supporting Bing, Xbox, Office and other services. He has overseen the Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business, led R&D for the Online Services Division and was VP of the Microsoft Business Division. Before joining Microsoft, Nadella was a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems.

Boeing Promotes IT Infrastructure VP as CIO

Boeing has named Ted Colbert, 39, as CIO and VP of IT organization. Colbert, who was formerly VP of the Boeing IT Infrastructure organization, replaces Kim Hammonds, who is leaving the company. Colbert also served as VP of IT Business Systems, joining Boeing in 2009 as a director of the Enterprise Network Services organization. Before Boeing, he was a SVP of Enterprise Architecture at Citigroup. He also spent 11 years with Ford Motor Company's IT organization.

Salesforce Hires Comcast Cable CIO as SVP, Global Communications and Media Industry

Salesforce.com appoints Andrew Baer as SVP, global communications and media industry. In his previous role as CIO for Comcast Cable, Baer transformed the company's IT strategy across all of its corporate systems, including call center, customer self-service, field workforce management, ordering and provisioning, billing, and data centers. He is credited for significant advancements in employee and customer management initiatives at Comcast and implementing cutting-edge solutions to support growth of the Comcast Cable business.

Microsoft Names New CFO From Within Ranks; Appoints APAC Regional Leader

Microsoft has named Amy Hood, 41 as its first woman CFO, replacing Peter Klein, 49, who will be leaving the company. Hood joined Microsoft in 2002 and currently serves as CFO of Microsoft's Business Division (MBD), overseeing all financial strategy, management and reporting. During her time as CFO of MBD, Hood was also deeply involved in the strategy development and overall execution of the company's successful acquisitions of Skype and Yammer. Previously, Hood served as chief of staff in the Server and Tools group, then ran the strategy and business development team in MBD before becoming CFO of the division in 2010. Before joining Microsoft as a part of the investor relations group, she worked at Goldman Sachs in various roles including investment banking and capital markets groups.

Universal Health Services Appoints Penn Mutual’s CEO to Board

Hospital management company, Universal Health Services, appointed Eileen C. McDonnell, 50, to its Board of Directors. McDonnell currently serves as President and CEO of The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company since 2011. She joined Penn Mutual in 2008 and previously served as President of the company. McDonnell was also appointed to The Penn Mutual Board of Trustees in 2010. Before joining Penn Mutual, she founded ExecMPower, a strategic planning and executive coaching consultancy. Previously, she was president of New England Financial, a wholly owned subsidiary of MetLife, and SVP of the Guardian Life Insurance Company.
