SAP Appoints COO and CIO; Makes Other Regional Management Changes

SAP appointed Christian Klein, 35, as COO and Thomas Saueressig, 31, as CIO. In his role as SAP chief controlling officer he is also responsible for SAPs Group Controlling and oversees the company's growth and profitability strategy. Klein joined SAP as a student in 1999.

Amazon Names Cloud Computing Head as Unit CEO

Web retailer Amazon announced Andy Jassy, 47, the SVP of its Amazon Web Services cloud computing business since 2006, as CEO of the unit. Jassy served as VP of Web Services at Amazon from January 2005 to April 2006, VP of Associates and Web Services of Amazon from September 2003 to January 2005 and served as its VP and Technical Assistant from November 2002 to September 2003. Prior to that, he founded a marketing consulting company in 1997 and served as its Manager. 

SAP Appoints Divisional Execs; Appoints Execs to Executive Board 

SAP appointed Achim Schneider as global head of the Retail Industry Business Unit. Schneider brings to his current role over 17 years of experience in Retail Industry solutions with SAP. In his most recent position as global VP he led the Global Supply Chain team and Fashion team.

Google Appoints Board Member and CEO of New Acquisition bebop as SVP; Makes Multiple Promotions  

Google will acquire bebop Technologies and appoints the CEO, board member, and a stockholder of bebop, Diane B. Greene, 59, as SVP of Google. Greene has been Google’s non-independent director and will continue to serve on the Google board. Greene had been one of the founders of VMware, the company that more or less introduced the world to the concept of virtualization. She started the company with her husband Mendel Rosenblum and was its CEO for about 10 years, which included about four years after its acquisition by EMC, and saw it through the IPO.

Padmasree Warrior, 55, the former CTO of Cisco is joining the Microsoft board. She's already a board member for Box, and for Gap, posts she had before she left Cisco.

Apple Appoints New Chief Design Officer and Other Design Execs

Jony Ive, long-time SVP of Design at Apple, now has the title of Chief Design Officer at Apple. This will allow Ive to hand off day-to-day managerial duties and focus more on items like the design of Apple's retail stores and also aid in the ongoing construction of Apple's new corporate campus.

Biogen Promotes Corporate IT Exec as CIO

Biogen named Matt Griffiths as SVP and CIO. Griffiths was promoted to the CIO role from his position as VP of Pharmaceutical Operations and Corporate IT. Prior to joining Biogen, Griffiths spent 16 years at Dell where he held numerous IT roles in both Europe and the United States. Griffiths serves on the Pharmaceutical Information Systems Association (PISA), a non-profit organization that shares information and IT best practices across larger biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to further the capabilities of the industry. 

Splunk Hires GE Capital Divisional CIO and Technology Innovator as CTO

Splunk has appointed Snehal Antani as CTO to work across Splunk’s rapidly expanding cloud, mobile, on-premises and hybrid offerings. Antani previously served as CIO for multiple divisions of GE Capital. Prior to GE Capital, Antani served in numerous IT strategy and technology roles at IBM, including Emerging Technologies Lead Architect and Private Cloud Strategist. He is a named inventor on 10 U.S. patents.

eBay Gets American Red Cross CEO as New Director before PayPal Split

eBay added new independent director to board in anticipation of completing its previously announced separation of eBay and PayPal. Gail McGovern, 62, President and CEO of the American Red Cross, has joined the board. McGovern also brings some tech pedigree to the board, including a past role as EVP of AT&T’s Consumer Markets Division.
