Apple’s Hardware and Finance Execs Retire

Apple's SVP of Hardware Engineering, Bob Mansfield, 55, will retire and the role will be transitioned to Dan Riccio, Apple's VP of iPad Hardware Engineering, over several months. The entire hardware engineering team will continue to report to Mansfield until his departure. As SVP of Hardware Engineering, Mansfield has led Mac hardware engineering since 2005, iPhoneR and iPodR hardware engineering since 2010, and iPadR hardware engineering since its inception. Mansfield joined Apple in 1999 when Apple acquired Raycer Graphics, where he was VP of Engineering.

Oracle Shuffles European Leaders

Oracle’s SVP for UK, Ireland and Israel, David Callaghan, switches role with SVP, Alliances & Channels, EMEA, Dermot O'Kelly. The exchange happened in recent weeks at the start of the vendor's new fiscal year in June and followed sluggish systems sales by Oracle's UK wing. Callaghan joined Oracle from KPMG and is President of Intellect and the British Quality Foundation, and a board member of e-skills UK.

Oracle North America Sales Head Quits

Keith Block, 50, Oracle’s EVP of Oracle’s North America Sales and Consulting organizations is leaving. He has held that position since 2002. He joined Oracle in 1986. Prior to his current position, he was EVP of Oracle’s North America Consulting Group, SVP of North America Commercial Consulting, Group VP of East Consulting, and VP of Americas CPG Consulting. He began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was a Senior Consultant.

Microsoft Loses a Pair of Top Advertising Executives

Richard Dunmall, Microsoft Advertising’s VP of Global Agencies and Accounts, is departing. In the meantime, Microsoft veteran Keith Lorizio, the current VP of U.S. Sales and Marketing, will oversee the global agency team. Previously, Dunmall was the VP, Microsoft Advertising for Greater APAC and Americas. Before joining Microsoft, he was the SVP and MD, EMEA at aQuantive, an advertising network which was acquired by Microsoft. Prior to aQuantive, he served as the CEO of MindShare Interaction UK and mOne UK. Earlier in his career, he was a Sales Director for AdLINK Internet Media.

Microsoft Greater China Region CEO Simon Leung has left the company for personal reasons. Before joining Microsoft, he was the President of the Asia Pacific region at Motorola. While at Motorola, Leung also served as SVP & Corporate VP. Prior to Motorola, he was President of the Asia Pacific region at Brightpoint and Managing Director at Tandem Computers.

Verizon named Melanie Healey, 50, to its Board. Currently, Healey serves at Procter & Gamble as Group President of North America and Global Hyper, Super, Mass Channel. She also serves on the boards of P&G, Verizon, and Bacardi. Since joining P&G in 1990, she has held senior roles in the Feminine, Healthcare, and Adult Care divisions. Healey was named one of Forbes’ Top 50 Most Powerful Women Leaders and one of Wall Street Journal’s Top 50 Women to Watch.

CEO Assumes Chairman Role at Verizon; New Board Member Elected

Verizon has confirmed that CEO Lowell McAdam, 56, has replaced Ivan Seidenberg, 65, as Chairman of the Board. Before becoming CEO, McAdam held the titles of COO of Verizon and EVP, COO, and CEO of Verizon Wireless. Prior to joining Verizon, he was the CEO of Primeco, a wireless joint venture between AirTouch and Bell Atlantic.

Microsoft Promotes Veteran to Head of Interactive Entertainment Division

Microsoft announced that Yusuf Mehdi has been appointed as the Head of Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Division. In this role, he will be responsible for Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE, and Kinect. Most recently, Mehdi served as the Chief Audience Officer for the company’s Online Services Division. Mehdi has spent more than a decade at Microsoft Online Services and has fostered strategic partnerships with Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, and Nokia. Before joining Microsoft, Mehdi was a Product Manager at Reuters Group.
