Flextronics Appoints Board Member with Technology Industry Experience Spanning Hardware, Software, Network and Communications
Electronics design, fabrication, assembly, and test company Flextronics appointed Michael D. Capellas, 58, prominent industry executive, to the company's board. Capellas currently serves as Principal of Capellas Partners, a strategic advisory firm focusing on technology-driven companies. He was previously CEO and Chairman of VCE Company, a joint venture between EMC and Cisco with investments from VMware and Intel. He was Chairman and CEO of First Data and MCI and Compaq. Post Compaq merger, he served as President of HP. Prior to Compaq and HP, he held a variety of executive positions in multiple industries.
Google Appoints New YouTube Head
Google has named Susan Wojcicki, a SVP for advertising and commerce, as the head of its video streaming division, YouTube, to generate more ad revenues from its video service. Salar Kamangar, who was leading YouTube since co-founder Chad Hurley left the company in 2010, is expected to take another role within Google.
Apple Appoints Former EPA Head to Lead Green Efforts; Former Yves St. Laurent CEO Joins for Special Projects
Apple has appointed the former head of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lisa Jackson as VP, Environmental Initiatives. Jackson had, until earlier this year, served as head of the EPA. Appointed by President Obama, she had been charged with helping to guide environmental policies and help to protect national resources from contamination. She left the post earlier this year following a run of more than four years heading up the agency.
Facebook Names General Counsel and New European Boss; Brand Design Head Leaves
Facebook named Colin Stretch as VP and general counsel for the social giant, assuming responsibility for leading Facebook’s legal team. Stretch will take over the position after the departure of Ted Ullyot, Facebook’s acting VP and general counsel of the past five years, who announced his intention to leave the company. Stretch had previously worked as VP and deputy general counsel under Ullyot, and was a partner at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel.
Apple Hires Xerox's CFO; VP-Retail Leaves
Apple has hired Xerox’s CFO Luca Maestri, 48, as its Corporate Controller. Prior to Xerox, he served as the CFO of Nokia Siemens Networks. Previously he was VP and CFO, General Motors Europe and General Motors Brazil. He has been a Director of Principal Financial Group since 2012.
Google Names New Asia Boss
Google named Karim Temsamani, 39, as head of the Asian-Pacific region. He replaces Daniel Alegre, who now oversees Google’s operations with its various global business partners. Temsamani was most recently the VP of New Products and Solutions for the Americas. Formerly he was VP of Global Mobile and Managing Director for Australia.
Former PayPal Exec Joins Visa after Brief Yahoo Stint
Sam Shrauger is the new head of global commercialization for Visa, with responsibility for developing, implementing, and optimizing the company’s strategy and processes for bringing new Visa products and services to market successfully. Prior to joining Visa, Shrauger served as SVP of commerce at Yahoo. He has also held roles in product management and consulting with Agency.com, VerticalNet, Deloitte Consulting, and Quantum Consulting. Previously, Shrauger was VP of global product and experience at PayPal and led a variety of PayPal’s product lines, launched its digital goods payment solution, led the integration of Bill Me Later after its 2008 acquisition, and served as a founding member of the merchant services business unit.

GE Capital Americas named Snehal Antani as CIO, Enterprise Architecture. He joins from IBM where he was Cloud-Centric Platforms Architect, Strategist & Product Manager. Prior to that he served as Private Cloud Strategist at IBM, Senior Product Manager & Business Strategy Lead for WebSphere Cloud & Virtualization Technologies, Senior Managing Consulting & WW Technical Lead for WebSphere XD, Developer for WebSphere XD at IBM.
Google VP becomes CEO of Yahoo!; Commerce Exec leaves for VC-Firm
Marrissa Mayer, 37, Google’s VP of Local and Maps, joins Yahoo as CEO. She oversaw product management and engineering work for Google Maps, Street View, Google Earth and local search products. She was also VP, Search Products and User Experience at Google. She joined Google in 1999 and was the company’s first female engineer.
Executive & Board Restructuring Continues at Yahoo!
Yahoo! has appointed John Hayes, 56, as a Director. Currently, Hayes serves as EVP & Chief Marketing Officer at American Express. Previously, he was the EVP of Global Advertising & Brand Management at American Express and the President of Lowe & Partners. Earlier in his career, Hayes was a director of the Association of National Advertisers and Wyndham Vacation Resorts.
