Kendle International Co-Founder Joins Emerson's Board 

Candace Kendle, retired chairman and CEO of Kendle International, has been elected to diversified-technology company Emerson's board. Dr. Kendle co-founded Kendle International, a global clinical research organization that provides a wide range of services to the global biopharmaceutical industry. 

She served as its chairman and CEO from 1981 to 2011, growing Kendle International into a $450-million public company and a leader in its industry, prior to its acquisition by INC Research in 2011.

Google VP of Product Management and Head of Search for Google Play Store Depart

Google's VP of Product Management for Android, Hugo Barra, is leaving the company. Barra is joining Chinese company Xiaomi as Head of the company's International Business Development. During his five years stint at Google, Barra had been the constant public face of Android. Xiaomi, which entered smartphone segment just two years ago, recently displaced Apple in China.

Accenture Appoints GM Veteran to Board 

Accenture appointed Jaime Ardila, 58, as a new director of the Company. Ardila first joined General Motors in 1984 and has been EVP and president of General Motors South America since 2010. Previously, he was president of GM's operations in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, and prior to that, he was VP and CFO for the Latin America, Africa and Middle East region. Over the course of his more than 25 years with GM, he also lived and worked in Europe and the United States. In addition, he was also with N M Rothschild & Sons for two years, establishing the investment bank's Colombian business before rejoining GM in 1998.

VMware Hires Recently Resigned Microsoft CIO in Same Position

Tony Scott, who recently left Microsoft, is joining VMware as SVP and CIO. Scott will manage VMware's corporate IT organization, a division of the firm that manages its critical systems and worldwide business operations. In Microsoft, Scott managed the internal IT operations for the past five years, leaving in June this year. Scott was hired by Microsoft in 2008, taking over for Stuart Scott. At Microsoft, Scott oversaw Microsoft’s migration from Siebel customer management software owned by Oracle and SAP’s ERP software to Microsoft’s own Dynamics software. He also tested the company’s Office 365 collaboration software and Windows Azure cloud software before the company commercialized them. Before Microsoft, Tony Scott led a major IT infrastructure upgrade at Walt Disney and served as CTO at General Motors and VP of Operations at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

AT&T Appoints Oil States International’s CEO to Board

AT&T has appointed Cindy B. Taylor, 51, to its board of directors. Taylor is president, CEO and a director of Oil States International, a diversified solutions and services provider for the oil and gas industry. Taylor served as Oil States' president and COO from 2006 to 2007 and as its SVP-CFO and treasurer from 2000 to 2006. Previously, she worked in public accounting for Ernst & Young and in senior finance positions with other energy industry companies. Taylor is also a director of Tidewater. She previously served as a director of Global Industries.

Apple Appoints Former EPA Head to Lead Green Efforts; Former Yves St. Laurent CEO Joins for Special Projects

Apple has appointed the former head of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lisa Jackson as VP, Environmental Initiatives. Jackson had, until earlier this year, served as head of the EPA. Appointed by President Obama, she had been charged with helping to guide environmental policies and help to protect national resources from contamination. She left the post earlier this year following a run of more than four years heading up the agency.
