Google’s APAC President to Replace Yahoo!-Bound Head of Partners Business Solutions

Daniel Alegre, who is currently Google’s president of Asia-Pacific and worldwide mobile, will replace outgoing sales exec Henrique De Castro as president of its partners business solutions. De Castro was hired by Yahoo! - as COO. Alegre earlier served as VP of Asia Pacific Sales and Operations at Google, VP of APLA Business Development & Latin America at Google. Since joining Google in 2004, he has expanded strategic partnerships, including China Mobile, AOL Europe, KDDI and NTT Docomo. Prior to joining Google, he served as VP of Business Development of Bertelsmann eCommerce Group in New York, Managing Director of Record division BMG Music in Latin America, and Director of New Internet Initiatives in Guetersloh, Germany. Earlier, he started and ran an FM radio station in Mexico.

Google VP becomes CEO of Yahoo!; Commerce Exec leaves for VC-Firm

Marrissa Mayer, 37, Google’s VP of Local and Maps, joins Yahoo as CEO. She oversaw product management and engineering work for Google Maps, Street View, Google Earth and local search products. She was also VP, Search Products and User Experience at Google. She joined Google in 1999 and was the company’s first female engineer.

Facebook CTO leaving

The company’s CTO, Bret Taylor, 32, will be leaving the social network company for a start-up with Kevin Gibbs, founder and tech lead of the Google App Engine and creator of Google Suggest. Taylor joined Facebook in 2009 as Director of Platform Products via the acquisition of FriendFeed which he founded. He had previously worked at Google as Group Product Manager and has a strong start-up background.

Facebook added COO Sheryl Sandberg, 42, to the company's board of directors. Sandberg oversees Facebook's business operations including sales, marketing, business development, legal, human resources, public policy and communications. Prior to Facebook, Sandberg was VP of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google, where she built and managed the online sales channels for advertising and publishing and operations for consumer products worldwide. She previously served as Chief of Staff for the United States Treasury Department under President Bill Clinton and began her career as an economist with the World Bank. Sandberg also serves on the boards of The Walt Disney Company, Women for Women International, the Center for Global Development and V-Day.

Oracle North America Sales Head Quits 

Keith Block, 50, Oracle’s EVP of Oracle’s North America Sales and Consulting organizations is leaving. He has held that position since 2002. He joined Oracle in 1986. Prior to his current position, he was EVP of Oracle’s North America Consulting Group, SVP of North America Commercial Consulting, Group VP of East Consulting, and VP of Americas CPG Consulting. He began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was a Senior Consultant.

Former Governor Joins Oil & Gas Exploration Company

Continental Resources appointed former North Dakota Governor Ed Schafer, 65, to its Board. Schafer was elected North Dakota's 30th governor in 1992 and served for two terms. In 2008, he was nominated and confirmed as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. During his term as governor, Schafer also served as Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, which is comprised of all energy-producing states. Before his political service, he was the President of Gold Seal, a distributor of household products. Schafer was also the co-founder and CEO of Extend America, a telecommunications company focused on rural connectivity in the Midwest.

JP Morgan Exec on Philip Morris Board

Philip Morris International named Kalpana Morparia, 58, to its Board of Directors. Currently, Morparia serves as JP Morgan’s India CEO. She also sits on the board of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, an integrated global pharma company, and CMC, a leading Indian systems engineering and integration company. Before joining JP Morgan, Morparia was MD of ICICI Bank, India’s second largest bank. She also served as Vice Chair of ICICI’s Insurance and Asset Management Business. She was named one of "The 50 Most Powerful Women in International Business" by Fortune Magazine in 2008.
