Walmart Board Adds Former Accenture CFO

Wal-Mart Stores appointed Pamela Craig, 56, retired CFO of Accenture, as a new member of the company's board. Craig has extensive experience in finance, technology and operations from her time at Accenture. Before serving as the CFO, she held additional leadership roles at Accenture included directing the company's office locations globally, the IT function, and travel and cross-company operations. She also managed businesses within the company's Products and Communications & High Tech operating groups.

Apple Names Burberry CEO as SVP, Retail and Online Stores

Apple appointed Angela Ahrendts, 53, CEO of Burberry, to a newly created position, as SVP, Retail and Online Stores. Ahrendts will have oversight of the strategic direction, expansion and operation of both Apple retail and online stores, which have redefined the shopping experience for hundreds of millions of customers around the world.

Google Appoints CEO for Newly Launched Health and Well-Being Company Calico

Google launched Calico, a new company that will focus on health and well-being, in particular the challenge of aging and associated diseases. Arthur D. Levinson, 61, Chairman and former CEO of Genentech and Chairman of Apple, will be CEO and a founding investor. Art Levinson will remain Chairman of Genentech and a director of Hoffmann-La Roche, as well as Chairman of Apple.

Google's VP of Product Management for Android, Hugo Barra, is leaving the company. Barra is joining Chinese company Xiaomi as Head of the company's International Business Development. During his five years stint at Google, Barra had been the constant public face of Android. Xiaomi, which entered smartphone segment just two years ago, recently displaced Apple in China.

Senior Apple Exec Steps Down to Work on Special Projects

Apple’s SVP of Technologies Bob Mansfield, 52, will step down, to work on special projects. Mansfield originally retired in June 2012, but returned to the company two months later to his most recent role. Mansfield presided over some of Apple’s toughest hardware-engineering jobs in the past decade, including a transition of its Mac personal computers to Intel chips and development of the iPad tablet. Mansfield was SVP of Mac Hardware Engineering, overseeing teams that delivered products such as the iMac and MacBook. Earlier in his career, he was senior director at SGI and VP of Engineering at Raycer Graphics, acquired by Apple in 1999.

Google China Chief Steps down; Company Names Replacement

Google China Country Manager Dr John Liu will step down after six years in the role. Liu will leave in August having presided over a period of great change for Google in China, which included the Internet giant’s controversial exit from the country in 2010 following allegations that the Chinese government hacked into email accounts belonging to activists.

Apple Appoints Former EPA Head to Lead Green Efforts; Former Yves St. Laurent CEO Joins for Special Projects

Apple has appointed the former head of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lisa Jackson as VP, Environmental Initiatives. Jackson had, until earlier this year, served as head of the EPA. Appointed by President Obama, she had been charged with helping to guide environmental policies and help to protect national resources from contamination. She left the post earlier this year following a run of more than four years heading up the agency.

Facebook Names General Counsel and New European Boss; Brand Design Head Leaves

Facebook named Colin Stretch as VP and general counsel for the social giant, assuming responsibility for leading Facebook’s legal team. Stretch will take over the position after the departure of Ted Ullyot, Facebook’s acting VP and general counsel of the past five years, who announced his intention to leave the company. Stretch had previously worked as VP and deputy general counsel under Ullyot, and was a partner at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel.

Microsoft Names New CFO From Within Ranks; Appoints APAC Regional Leader

Microsoft has named Amy Hood, 41 as its first woman CFO, replacing Peter Klein, 49, who will be leaving the company. Hood joined Microsoft in 2002 and currently serves as CFO of Microsoft's Business Division (MBD), overseeing all financial strategy, management and reporting. During her time as CFO of MBD, Hood was also deeply involved in the strategy development and overall execution of the company's successful acquisitions of Skype and Yammer. Previously, Hood served as chief of staff in the Server and Tools group, then ran the strategy and business development team in MBD before becoming CFO of the division in 2010. Before joining Microsoft as a part of the investor relations group, she worked at Goldman Sachs in various roles including investment banking and capital markets groups.
