Apple Appoints Adobe’s CTO as VP, Tech
Kevin Lynch, 45, Adobe's CTO, has left the company to join Apple as VP of technology. Prior to his role as the CTO, he served as Chief Software Architect, EVP and GM of Designer and Developer Business at Adobe Macromedia Software, SVP of Experience, Technology & Organization of Adobe Systems, SVP and Chief Software Architect of Platform BU of Adobe Systems, COO of Syzygy Entertainment, COO of Triple Bay Industries, and GM of Web Publishing. He worked for General Magic, where he pioneered a navigational user interface for handheld communicators. He designed the user interface and developed the first Macintosh release of FrameMaker software for Frame Technology.
Adobe Adds New Director to Board
Adobe expanded its board with the addition of new Director Kelly J. Barlow, a partner with ValueAct Capital who also serves on the board of directors of KAR Auction Services. He previously served on the boards of Allscripts and SIRVA. Prior to joining ValueAct, Barlow worked at EGM Capital, where he served primarily as portfolio manager. Prior to EGM, he worked at Wells Capital Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank.
Oracle Shuffles European Leaders
Oracle’s SVP for UK, Ireland and Israel, David Callaghan, switches role with SVP, Alliances & Channels, EMEA, Dermot O'Kelly. The exchange happened in recent weeks at the start of the vendor's new fiscal year in June and followed sluggish systems sales by Oracle's UK wing. Callaghan joined Oracle from KPMG and is President of Intellect and the British Quality Foundation, and a board member of e-skills UK.
Keith Block, 50, Oracle’s EVP of Oracle’s North America Sales and Consulting organizations is leaving. He has held that position since 2002. He joined Oracle in 1986. Prior to his current position, he was EVP of Oracle’s North America Consulting Group, SVP of North America Commercial Consulting, Group VP of East Consulting, and VP of Americas CPG Consulting. He began his career at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was a Senior Consultant.
Oracle Veteran Assumes CFO Title
Oracle announced that Oracle President Safra Catz, 49, will assume the additional responsibility of CFO. Catz's appointment follows the resignation of the company's current CFO, Jeff Epstein, 53. The company announced that Catz's appointment is permanent. Catz joined Oracle Corporation in April 1999 and has been President since January 2004. She has been a member of Oracle's Board of Directors since October 2001. She previously served as the company's CFO from November 2005 to September 2008. Catz also serves as a non-executive Director of HSBC Group, a position she has held since May 2008. Prior to Oracle, Katz worked for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as a Managing Director.
