Merck Appoints Retired Accenture CFO to Board 

Merck appointed Pamela J. Craig, 58, retired CFO of Accenture, to the company’s board of directors. Craig served as the CFO of Accenture from 2006 until her retirement in 2013. During her 34 years at Accenture, she held a variety of consulting, line management, operational and finance leadership roles. 

Citrix CEO Mark Templeton to Retire; Activist Investor Elliott Takes Larger Role with Board Seat

Citrix Systems’ President & CEO Mark Templeton, 62, plans to retire after twenty years of service at the company. Templeton will continue to serve as president and CEO and a director of the company until such time as a successor has been appointed. The company will go through a series of leadership and probable structural changes under pressure from activist investor Elliott Management.

Cisco Cloud CTO Phil Harris Joins BMC as CTO

Cisco VP and CTO of cloud and virtualization group Phil Harris has joined BMC as SVP & CTO. Harris will replace Kia Behnia, who will not return from a sabbatical. Before his kost recent role at Cisco, he served as VP & CTO. Prior to that, he was Chief Strategy Officer and VP, Platform Engineering and Strategy at VCE, a virtual computing environment company.

SAP Appoints Microsoft Cloud and Big Data Leader as CTO

SAP Appoints Quentin Clark, a 20-year veteran of Microsoft, as CTO. Most recently, Clark served as Microsoft’s Corporate VP in the business application space and before that was Corporate VP of data platform group, where he helped design and deliver the company’s big data platforms for both on premise (SQL Server) and Azure (PowerBI, HDInsight). Previously he was GM of the Database Systems Group, GM for WinFS project, Product Unit Manager for MOM/Application Center starting as a Software Engineer at the company in 1994.

Salesforce.com Appoints Mark Hawkins from Autodesk to Replace Retiring CFO Graham Smith 

Salesforce.com has hired Mark Hawkins, 55, as CFO, replacing Graham Smith, 54, who retires. Hawkins was most recently the EVP & CFO of Autodesk. Prior to joining Autodesk in April 2009, Hawkins was CFO and SVP of Finance & IT at Logitech International since 2006. Hawkins worked with Dell, serving as VP of Finance for the company's Worldwide Procurement and Logistics organization, as well as VP of Finance for the U.S. Home Segment.

Microsoft Goes Through Board, CEO and Series of Senior Leadership Changes

Microsoft appointed Satya Nadella, 46, as CEO and member of the Board. Nadella previously held the position of EVP of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group. Since joining the company in 1992, Nadella has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts across the company’s portfolio of products and services, most notably the company’s move to the cloud and the development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures supporting Bing, Xbox, Office and other services. He has overseen the Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business, led R&D for the Online Services Division and was VP of the Microsoft Business Division. Before joining Microsoft, Nadella was a member of the technology staff at Sun Microsystems.

GE Appoints China CTO for Global Research

GE announced that Xiangli Chen, 49, has been appointed VP, China Technology Center, Global Research. He also serves as VP and CTO of GE China. Xiangli has been with GE for 19 years, holding several technology leadership roles, including serving as general manager of the China Technology Center and general manager of global technology for GE Healthcare in China.

VMware’s Co-President, Applications Platform, T. Tod Nielsen, 46, moves to EMC, in connection with the recently launched joint VMware/EMC Pivotal Initiative led by Paul Maritz, EMC's Chief Strategy Officer. Mr. Nielsen served as VMware’s COO from 2009 to 2011. Prior to joining VMware, he served as President and CEO of Borland Software, an enterprise software company.

Raymond V. Gilmartin, 71, Microsoft board member, decided to not seek re-election. He is the former chairman, president and CEO of Merck & Co. He joined the company’s board in 2001. He served as Becton Dickinson and Company’s CEO, President and Chairman from 1989 to 1994, joining the company in 1976 as VP of strategic Planning. An active participant in health industry affairs, he served as the Chairman of the Healthcare Institute of New Jersey. He serves as Member of the Business Roundtable and the Business Council. He was appointed by President Bush in 2003 as a Member of the President's Export Council.
