Alibaba appointed Madhur Deep as its SVP. In his new role, Deep will take care of strategy and investment team in India at Alibaba. Prior to this appointment, Deep worked for McKinsey as its Senior Engagement Manager.

Microsoft's Applications and Services Group EVP Dr. Qi Lu Steps Down; New MD for India Lab Appointed

Dr. Qi Lu, the EVP in charge of Microsoft's Applications and Services Group, is leaving the company due to health reasons. Dr. Lu was previously the president of the Online Services Division, where he led the company’s search, portal and online advertising efforts. He spent 10 years at Yahoo before joining Microsoft in 2008. Many of Lu’s duties will be taken over by Rajesh Jha, a corporate VP who has been leading Microsoft’s Outlook and Office 365 efforts.

Google’s Head of Enterprise Apps to Run Virtual Reality Business

Amit Singh, the president of Google for Work, the company's unit that sells its suite of apps to other companies, is now leading business and operations for Google's nascent virtual reality division. Singh, a former Oracle sales exec, has lead Google for Work since 2010.

Apple’s Car Project Leader Is Leaving; Makes New Leadership Appointments

Steve Zadesky, the veteran Apple executive overseeing the company’s electric car project is leaving. Zadesky, a former Ford Motor engineer who has overseen the car project for the last two years, and who tripled the size of Apple’s automotive team, is leaving the company for personal reasons. Zadesky spent nearly 17 years at Apple, where he built and led the teams for the first iPod, first iPhone, all subsequent iPhones and iPods and hundreds of Apple accessories.

Apple Announces Multiple Leadership Changes

Apple announced that Jeff Williams has been named COO and Johny Srouji is joining Apple's executive team as SVP for Hardware Technologies. Phil Schiller, SVP of Worldwide Marketing, will expand his role to include leadership of the revolutionary App Store across all Apple platforms. Apple also announced that Tor Myhren will join Apple in the first calendar quarter of 2016 as VP of Marketing Communications, reporting to CEO Tim Cook.

Google Reorganizes under New Holding Company Alphabet; Eric Schmidt to be Chairman

Google reorganizes itself into a new holding company, Alphabet, whose largest wholly owned subsidiary will be Google. Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt will be the Executive Chairman of Alphabet. From 2001-2011, Eric served as Google’s CEO, overseeing the company’s technical and business strategy alongside founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.  Prior to joining Google, Eric was the Chairman and CEO of Novell and CTO at Sun Microsystem.
