Symantec CFO Joins McKesson

McKesson named James A. Beer, 50, as EVP and CFO. Beer will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions for McKesson and replaces Jeff C. Campbell, who left the company in June 2013 to become CFO of American Express. Beer comes to McKesson from Symantec where he served as EVP and CFO managing the worldwide finance organization with responsibility for accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, investor relations, corporate development, purchasing, and audit.

Electronic Arts Promotes Sports Head as CEO

Electronic Arts has named its Sports head Andrew Wilson, 39, as CEO and a director of the Company. Wilson has served as EVP, EA SPORTS and Origin, EA’s consumer platform for downloading digital games. Before that, he served as SVP, EA SPORTS; SVP, Global Online and VP, EA SPORTS. Wilson has held various positions within the Company since joining the Company in Australia in year 2000, also working in Asia and Europe. 

VMware Hires Recently Resigned Microsoft CIO in Same Position

Tony Scott, who recently left Microsoft, is joining VMware as SVP and CIO. Scott will manage VMware's corporate IT organization, a division of the firm that manages its critical systems and worldwide business operations. In Microsoft, Scott managed the internal IT operations for the past five years, leaving in June this year. Scott was hired by Microsoft in 2008, taking over for Stuart Scott.

Microsoft CEO to Retire in Next Twelve Months

Microsoft’s long-time CEO Steve Ballmer, 57, has decided to retire within the next twelve months. He will depart after a successor has been chosen. The company's board has appointed a special committee—including Chairman Bill Gates—that will consider both external and internal candidates. The search committee will be chaired by lead independent board director John Thompson. Before becoming CEO in 2000, Ballmer’s roles at Microsoft included SVP of sales and support, SVP of systems software and VP of marketing.

HP Shakes Up Enterprise Group and Marketing/Communications Leadership

Bill Veghte, 46, HP's COO, will become EVP and General Manager of the HP Enterprise Group, a role that will now include responsibility for the coordinated development of the company's portfolio of cloud solutions. Veghte is a proven technology executive with a wide range of experiences leading sales, services, marketing and engineering at scale. During his tenure at HP, he has run HP Software, held the responsibility of chief strategy officer and, over the last 15 months, served as HP's COO. Veghte will retain his current responsibility for the pan-HP cloud initiative. There are currently no immediate plans to select a new COO after Veghte transitions to his new role.

Yahoo's has named its interim chair Maynard Webb Jr, 58, as new chairman of its board of directors. Webb has been a member of the Yahoo board since early 2012, and was appointed interim chairman earlier this year, replacing outgoing chairman Fred Amoroso.

Symantec Adds New Leaders to Senior Executive Team

Symantec has recently appointed new members to its senior executive team who bring in deep expertise in areas spanning security, cloud, end-user sensibility and customer experience. New Chief Marketing Officer Manny Kostas joins from Polycom, where he led the Worldwide Product and Program Management organization, after more than two decades in senior leadership roles with HP. In his role as SVP of marketing and strategy for HP, Manny led their printing and web services business with market leadership in every category.

SAP Co-CEO to Step Down From Role and Join Supervisory Board

SAP co-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe, 48, will move from executive board to supervisory board next year, leaving American co-CEO Bill McDermott, 50, as sole chief. In 2010, Snabe and McDermott took over as SAP's leaders from long-time CEO Leo Apotheker. Snabe has been an executive board member for five years.
