As Yahoo! prepares to join Verizon, it has revealed that its remaining business under the Altaba entity will be run by its board member Thomas McInerney, 52, the former EVP & CFO of IAC/InterActiveCorp.

American International Group reported that Martha Gallo has been named CIO. She succeeds Philip Fasano, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities. ‎Gallo has been EVP and Chief Auditor of AIG before taking up the CIO role.

ServiceNow has named John Donahoe President and CEO. Donahoe was formerly President and CEO of eBay. Donahoe currently serves as Chairman of the Board at PayPal.

Microsoft Names LinkedIn’s Kevin Scott as CTO

Microsoft has named Kevin Scott to a newly created role of CTO for the company. This is an expansion of Scott's new role at LinkedIn as SVP of Infrastructure. As Microsoft's CTO, Scott will drive strategic, cross-company initiatives to maximize Microsoft's impact with members and customers. 

Microsoft's Applications and Services Group EVP Dr. Qi Lu Steps Down

Dr. Qi Lu, the EVP in charge of Microsoft's Applications and Services Group, is leaving the company due to health reasons. Dr. Lu was previously the president of the Online Services Division, where he led the company’s search, portal and online advertising efforts. He spent 10 years at Yahoo before joining Microsoft in 2008. Many of Lu’s duties will be taken over by Rajesh Jha, a corporate VP who has been leading Microsoft’s Outlook and Office 365 efforts.

Apple Hires Former Time Warner Cable Exec Peter Stern as VP, Cloud Services

Apple hired former Time Warner Cable executive Peter Stern, 44, as VP, Cloud Services, which includes the technology company’s subscription offerings. Stern left TWC as EVP and Chief Product, People and Strategy Officer, earlier this year after it was bought by rival cable company Charter Communications.

Microsoft COO Kevin Turner Resigns

B. Kevin Turner, 51, Microsoft's COO, has resigned. He is joining financial firm Citadel to run its technology-heavy market-making unit as CEO of Citadel Securities. He will also be a vice chairman of the firm. Turner had been at Microsoft for 11 years. Turner was the driving force behind the sales and marketing efforts of Office 365 and the widespread customer adoption of Azure cloud.

Twitter Appoints Co-Founder and iCEO Jack Dorsey as Permanent CEO

Twitter appointed interim CEO Jack Dorsey, 38, as permanent CEO. As former CEO Dick Costolo stepped down in June this year, the company had appointed its Chairman and co-founder Jack Dorsey as its interim CEO. The board had hired Spencer Stuart to run the search. Dorsey will also continue to serve as a member of the Board, but will no longer act as chairman. The company seeks a new chairman.

HP Chair-CEO Meg Whitman Joins SurveyMonkey Board

HP CEO Meg Whitman, 59, joined the board of the online survey development cloud-based startup SurveyMonkey. Whitman’s connection with SurveyMonkey comes from its current CEO Bill Veghte who is a former HP senior executive. After HP splits in November, Whitman will be CEO of the spun-out HP Enterprise, which is slated to focus on corporate hardware and services and will remain as non-executive Chairman of the printing and & personal systems company HP, Inc. She is currently the chairwoman, president, and CEO of HP.

Check Point Software Separates Chair-CEO Roles

Check Point Software Technologies separated the position of Chairman and CEO and appointed Marius Nacht, 49, as Non-Executive Chairman. Nacht is one of Check Point’s founders, and has served as Vice Chairman of the Board since 2001 and as a director of Check Point since its incorporation in 1993. From 1999 through 2005, Nacht held SVP positions at Check Point. Before that he was VP of International Operations.
