BT Group Appoints CEO of BT Technology, Service and Operations and Group CIO        

BT Group has appointed Howard Watson as the CEO of BT Technology, Service and Operations and Group CIO. Watson is currently BT Chief Architect and MD Global IT Platforms, and will replace Clive Selley, who is taking over as CEO of Openreach. BT TSO manages the company's internal and external platforms, including TV, Mobile and Conferencing, as well as BT's R&D unit at Adastral Park, Suffolk.    

Chubb Limited Appoints CIO for Europe

Chubb Ltd. has made additional senior leadership appointments for Europe. Max Gibbs was appointed CIO, Europe. Gibbs was CIO for ACE European Group.

EMC Goes Through CIO Changes

ML Krakauer takes over as EMC’s CIO, after serving as head of business development for global enterprise services and, before that, head of global human resources. Krakauer replaces Vic Bhagat, who left as EMC’s CIO to pursue other opportunities.    

PayPal Holdings Promotes VP, Global Platform & Infrastructure to CTO

PayPal appointed Sri Shivananda, currently the company's VP, Global Platform & Infrastructure, as the new SVP and CTO. Shivananda's appointment follows the decision by current CTO, James Barrese, to step down to take time off.

As CTO, Shivananda will oversee the company's platform and infrastructure with a focus on availability, scalability, performance and information security. During his nearly 15-year tenure at the company, Shivananda led eBay's Global Platform and Infrastructure (GPI) team that powered both the eBay and PayPal businesses. After successfully guiding his team through separation, Shivananda joined PayPal as VP of GPI reporting to Barrese.

William Ready, the Company's SVP, Global Head of Product and Engineering, will lead the payment services functions previously led by Barrese in addition to his current responsibilities.          

Delta Hires AIG Digital Chief as CIO

Delta Air Lines hired Rahul Samant, AIG’s chief digital officer, to replace retiring CIO Theresa Wise. Wise had been CIO of Northwest Airlines for seven years when it merged with Delta in 2008. At AIG, Samant was responsible for company-wide digital strategy.  He was initially hired in September 2012, as global head of application development and management, and was named CDO in 2015. He previously worked as a senior IT manager at Bank of America including a two-year stint as CIO of the bank’s wealth management division.

Haier America Hires CIO from Belkin

Appliance maker Haier America has tapped enterprise technology veteran Deanna Johnston to its newly created position of the CIO, as the company seeks to expand its presence in the U.S. market. She most recently served as CIO at consumer electronics firm Belkin International for the past seven years. She previously worked in senior technology posts at supply-chain company Ingram Micro, PwC and Arthur Andersen.

Liberty Appoints its Subsidiary Telenet’s IT Exec as MD and CIO    

Sam Lloyd is the new CIO at Telenet, while Telenet exec Veenod Kurup moves to Liberty Global as MD and CIO. Veenod was part of the senior leadership team and reported directly to CEO, John Porter. Veenod Kurup has led the Telenet IT department since May 2013. Veenod will be sharing his experience with Liberty Global, where he will concentrate on the IT strategy of the European offices as MD and CIO.

Manulife Financial Corporation Appoints ETrade COO as EVP and CIO     

Manulife appointed Greg Framke as EVP and CIO. Framke will be responsible for all of Manulife's Information Services (IS) activities on a global basis and advancing the company's effective use of information technology. Framke was recently EVP and COO at ETrade, where he managed all technology and operations for the organization globally.

Progressive Corporation Appoints New CIO from Within Ranks         

The Progressive Corporation announced Steve Broz as its new CIO following the previously announced retirement of Ray Voelker. Voelker retired after 30 years at Progressive, including 15 as CIO. Broz was as a key member of Voelker's senior leadership team heading up the technology group's Enterprise Project Management Office. During his 15 years at Progressive, Broz also has spent time in Customer Experience, Claims Process and Personal Lines.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Appoints Chief Information Security Officer from Optiv

Royal Caribbean Cruises appointed Renee Guttman as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Guttman is an accomplished global information security and privacy executive with a proven track record of establishing internationally-recognized information security programs for Fortune 500 companies. Guttman was most recently VP of Information Risk and member of the Office of the CISO at Optiv.

Komatsu Appoints Chief Information & Innovation Officer     

Japanese construction equipment company Komatsu appointed Yoshisada Takahashi as a Chief Information & Innovation Officer. Takahashi will be responsible for not only overseeing all information-related matters but also innovating Komatsu's superior manufacturing (Monozukuri) and business processes by incorporating new technologies and ideas, such as AI (artificial intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things).

Standard Chartered Names Capital One Exec as Retail Banking CIO

Standard Chartered named James Dolphin as new CIO for retail banking. Dolphin comes from Capital One Financial Corp., where he was CIO for retail and direct banking since 2012.

Genuine Parts Company Announces New CIO  

Gregory N. Miller was named SVP and CIO. Miller was previously SVP and CFO for the U.S. Automotive Parts Group, and has been with the Company since 2010.  

CGI Names Former DoD Director of the Defense Security Service to the Role of Chief Security Officer 

CGI announced the hiring of Stanley L. Sims as Chief Security Officer. Sims most recently served as the Director of the Defense Security Service, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agency responsible for securing the defense technological base and overseeing the protection of classified information residing with the DoDs ecosystem of industry partners. In his new role, Sims will lead CGIs security enterprise policies, practices, and programs across the full spectrum of physical and cybersecurity activity.

Suncorp Business Services’ CEO Back in the CIO Role After Restructure     

Suncorp Business Services’ CEO, Matt Pancino, has moved back into the group CIO role at the financial services organisation, following a restructure. Suncorp Group has created a new operating model where customer-focused functions are supported by leaner shared services to drive business growth. Pancino had been the CEO at Suncorp Business Services since June 2014, promoted from the CIO position, which he held for just over two years.

Workday Appoints Former Amgen CIO in Similar Role

Workday has appointed Diana McKenzie as the company's CIO. Reporting directly to Co-President Mark Peek, Diana will have global responsibility for Workday's information services organization. Prior to joining Workday, Diana was SVP and CIO at Amgen.

Aegon Announces Global CTO Replacement     

Aegon appointed Mark Bloom to succeed Brenda Clancy as Global CTO. Bloom joins Aegon from Citigroup, where he held various technology leadership positions. In his most recent role, Bloom has served as Citi's Global Head of Consumer Digital and Operations Technology, where he has been responsible for the Digital, Data, and Operations platforms and technology solutions and innovations that support Citi's Consumer business around the globe. Clancy will retire during the second quarter of 2016.

Lincoln Financial Group Promotes Tech SVP to EVP and CIO           

Lincoln Financial Group appointed Kenneth S. Solon to EVP and CIO. Solon joined the company in 2008. He most recently served as SVP, responsible for Enterprise wide IT, Administrative Services and the Digital Business Group. Prior to that, he served as the head of Shared Services and was responsible for Customer Service for the company’s various business lines.

Deutsche Lufthansa Names CIO of All Lufthansa Group Airlines

Dr. Roland Schtz has been appointed CIO of all Lufthansa Group airlines. In this new role, Schtz, to date CIO of Lufthansa Passage operative business, will consolidate all relevant digitalization programmes in the IT sector. Thus the digital transformation of all airlines in the Lufthansa Group is to be accelerated. Schtz has worked for the Lufthansa Group since 2005.

Inmarsat Appoints Cybersecurity Expert Professional as SVP of Group Security      

Inmarsat announced that Gary Gagnon has joined the company as SVP of Group Security. For the past 30 years, Gagnon has been at the MITRE Corporation where he held several positions focused on solving information security issues for a variety of Department of Defence organizations. He was also the director of the National Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Centre (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) the first FFRDC solely dedicated to cybersecurity.

F5 Networks Names Chief Information Security Officer from CrowdStrike

F5 Networks announced the hire of Mike Convertino to lead its Information Security team. As the company’s first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Convertino’s first priority is the continued protection of company and customer assets and data. Prior to joining F5, Convertino was previously the CISO at CrowdStrike, and senior director of network security at Microsoft.

Telenet Announces Executive Changes   

Sam Lloyd is the new CIO at Telenet. Veenod was part of the senior leadership team and reported directly to CEO, John Porter. Veenod Kurup has led the Telenet IT department since May 2013. As of March 1, 2016, Veenod's role will be taken over by Sam (Samantha) Lloyd from Britain. As CIO, Sam will be part of the management and will report directly to CEO, John Porter.

Open Text Corporation Announces Management Changes      

Muhi S. Majzoub was named EVP, Engineering in January 2016. Muhi joined OpenText as EVP of Engineering in June 2012. Prior to OpenText, Muhi was Chief of Products for NorthgateArinso, SVP of Product Development for CA, and VP of Product Development at Oracle.

athenahealth Names CTO from Kaseya International

athenahealth appointed Prakash Khot as CTO. Most recently, Khot was CTO at Kaseya International. In 2006, he co-founded Dimdim, a web-based platform that let users host or attend live online meetings, demos and webinars, and served as its CTO and EVP of Product Development. Dimdim was acquired by Salesforce in 2011 where he became their SVP of Engineering for the Collaboration Cloud platform. Previously, Khot led the CA RFID Group in the Office of CTO. He joined CA in 2001 upon its acquisition of Boston-based AIM, which he co-founded and served as CTO.

MDU Resources Group Appoints Internal Tech and Cybersecurity Officer as CIO 

MDU Resources Group announced that it has named Peggy A. Link as the company's CIO. In 2015, she was named assistant VP of technology and cybersecurity officer. In this expanded role, Link will oversee IT at the company, as well as the corporation's business units WBI Energy and the utility group, which includes Cascade Natural Gas Corp., Great Plains Natural Gas Co., Intermountain Gas Co. and Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. Link joined the corporation in 2005 and has led the enterprise technology services function since 2007.

Aspen Insurance Announces New Appointments          

Aspen Insurance has appointed Oliver Brew as EVP, Global Head of Cyber Risk & Head of International Professional Indemnity. Brew was most recently SVP and head of errors and omissions for Liberty International Underwriters in New York, and is a respected underwriter in the market. He started his career in London at managing general agent (MGA) CFC Underwriting, before moving to Hiscox in 2004 and joining Liberty in 2011.

Super Retail Group Appoints CIO from John Lewis

Super Retail Group Limited appointed Paul Hayes as CIO. Hayes joins Super Retail Group from John Lewis, where he has served for a number of years as Head of Information Systems (IS) Delivery. As CIO, Hayes will lead Super Retail Group's IS team and operations, with responsibility for developing and implementing innovative and cost-effective technologies, as well as the development of the Group's long-term information systems and digital roadmap, including ongoing data security enhancement.

Magellan Health Names Former IBM and HP Exec as CTO  

Magellan Health announced that Srinivas “Srini” Koushik has been named the company’s CTO, a role that will focus on driving growth and innovation by using technology to enhance products, and align technology architecture with both current and emerging business strategy. Koushik joins Magellan Health with more than 25 years of experience in the technology and financial services industries, as well as significant leadership experience at IBM, Nationwide Insurance and Hewlett-Packard. Most recently, he was the president and CEO of a start-up company.

Evolution Gaming Group Appoints Group CTO 

Evolution Gaming Group AB appointed David Craelius as Group CTO. David has vast experience from leading positions in successful tech companies and was most recently CEO of Gavagai. Among previous employments, he has been CTO of Klarna, Head of Banking at Avanza and CIO of Nordnet.

Caesars Entertainment Corporation Names EVP & CIO          

Caesars Entertainment Corporation appointed Les Ottolenghi to the post of EVP and CIO. In this role, Ottolenghi will be responsible for shaping and implementing Caesars' technology agenda across all company platforms. He served as an adjunct professor at Emory University lecturing on IT innovation and entrepreneurship.

Harvard University’s CIO of Campus Services Joins Boston Private as CIO & SVP  

Boston Private announced that Prasanna Gopalakrishnan has joined the company as SVP & CIO. Gopalakrishnan leads the engineering and delivery of client-centric digital platforms, business process automation and infrastructure and data analytics initiatives. Gopalakrishnan will also be responsible for implementing and integrating systems designed to improve the Boston Private client experience across private banking and wealth management platforms. Prior to joining Boston Private, Gopalakrishnan served as the CIO of Campus Services at Harvard University.

Quality Systems Appoints Former CareFusion and Allscripts Exec as CTO  

Quality Systems appointed David A. Metcalfe, 52, to serve as the company's CTO. Prior to joining the Company, Metcalfe, served as VP of R&D at Becton, Dickinson & Company. Previously, Metcalfe was VP of Product Development at CareFusion, which was acquired by Becton, Dickinson & Company. From 2008 to 2012, Metcalfe was VP of Development for Allscripts.

Marketo Appoints Former Autonomy and VeriSign Exec as Chief Security Officer

Marketo appointed Jason Hoffman to the position of Chief Security Officer (CSO). Hoffman has more than 25 years of experience and leadership in the IT, security, and risk management fields at brands such as Autonomy (now HP), Kaiser Permanente, VeriSign (now Symantec), and Greater Bay Bank (now Wells Fargo Bank.) He most recently served as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for [24]7. Hoffman brings a breadth of experience from both large and small organizations in the high-tech, healthcare, and financial services industries.

Barnes & Noble Hires CIO From Pawn Shop Operator EZCorp

Barnes & Noble named William Wood CIO. Wood, a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Army, comes to New York after a stint as CIO at EZCorp, a pawn shop operator based in Texas. Wood previously held IT roles at Bass Pro Shops, Brookstone Holdings and Dollar General.

He replaces Chris Troia, who has retired after serving as Barnes & Noble’s CIO since 2004.

Greencross Appoints CIO with Strong eCommerce Experience

Paul Kennedy has been appointed as CIO. Kennedy has over 20 years of IT experience, specialising in the retail and consumer discretionary sectors and specifically e- commerce. Kennedy has held a number of CIO roles with an explicit focus on development of an omni channel distribution model. Kennedy previously worked for The Apparel Group, where he led IT and digital operations and oversaw the development of an omni channel distribution model. Prior to that, Kennedy was at John Lewis, where he was responsible for implementing a digital platform.

United Financial Bancorp and United Bank of Glastonbury Appoint EVP and Chief Information & Administrative Officer        

United Financial Bancorp and United Bank of Glastonbury appointed John J. Smith as EVP and chief information & administrative officer. In the new role, Smith will lead the IT, Payment Operations and Project Management teams. With more than 30 years of experience in financial services technology and operations management, Smith has spent the last 10 years with CIT Group in New Jersey, serving as CIO for CIT Bank Unit.
