Telecom Veteran Selected to Health Services Board

John Gerdelman, 58, has joined as Director on the Board of healthcare supplies and solutions company Owens & Minor. He currently serves as President of telecom provider, Long Lines. Before Long Lines, he was Executive Chairman and Co-founder of Intelliden, a network solutions provider acquired by IBM in 2010. Gerdelman has over 15 years of experience with MCI Communications and serves on the boards of directors of Brocade Communications Systems, Sycamore Networks, and Proxim Wireless.

CIO On Media Research Firm’s Board

Media and marketing research firm Arbitron has re-elected Larry Kittelberger, 61, as Director on the Board. Kittelberger previously served as SVP, Technology & Operations at Honeywell International. Before that he was SVP & CIO at Lucent Technologies and SVP & CIO at Allied Signal. Kittelberger also serves as Director for Aleris International.

Seasoned E-commerce Executive on Retail Company’s Board

United Stationers, a leading wholesale distributor of business products, announced that William M. Bass, 48, joined its board of directors. Bass has served as President of Charming Shoppes Direct since 2009. Prior to that, he was the Co-founder & CEO of Fair Indigo, SVP e-commerce for Land’s End, and GM, Customer Direct for Sears. He currently serves as a board member of Tractor Supply Company and Shop.org. Bass also had a distinguished military career as a captain in the United States Army.

World Wrestling Entertainment announced that Patricia Gottesman has joined as Director on its Board. Gottesman is currently President and CEO of Crimson Hexagon, a social media monitoring and analysis company. Prior to joining Crimson, Gottesman was the Founder and Principal of Omnibus PG, an international media and technology practice. Gottesman began her career with Cablevision Systems where she was EVP of Digital Marketing and Commerce, EVP of Product Management and Marketing, and SVP of Development. Gottesman served on Crimson Hexagon’s board and in advisory roles for TechMahindra, America India Foundation, comScore, and Elucido Media.

Ex-Accenturite Consultant Appointed to Retail Company Board

Christopher & Banks announced that Lisa Pickrum, 41, has joined its Board of Directors. Lisa Pickrum has served as EVP & COO of The RLJ Companies, a diversified holding company with portfolio companies in the financial services, asset management, real estate, and film production industries. She was also a Principal at Katalyst Venture Partners, a senior consultant for Accenture, and an attorney with the Federal Communications Commission. Pickrum serves on the boards of Rollover Systems, The RLJ McLarty Landers Automotive Group, and FCC Diversity Committee.

Conforce International announced that Alexander Haig has joined its Board of Directors. Prior to this, he was Chair & CEO of Sky Station, a privately held telecommunications company, and MD of Worldwide Associates, a strategic advisory and consulting firm.

Investment Banker and High Tech Industry Bankroller Named to Tombstone Board

Mining company Tombstone Exploration announced that Laird Cagan, 52, has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Cagan is MD and co-founder of Cagan McAfee Capital Partners, a private investment firm and merchant bank focused on high tech clientele. Cagan also previously worked for the investment banks Goldman Sachs and Drexel Burnham Lambert.

CTO Selected at Double Eagle Holdings

Investment firm Double Eagle Holdings announced that Richard Hutchings, former WW CTO at SC Johnson has joined its Board of Directors. Hutchings began his professional career in 1983 with Drackett, remaining at the company until it was acquired by SC Johnson in 1992. He has served on several SC Johnson corporate boards throughout the world.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
