Veeva Systems Appoints Board Member with Excellence in Financial Strategy and Technology Banking

Veeva Systems appointed Paul Chamberlain to serve as a member of the board. Veeva Systems provides cloud-based software solutions for the life sciences industry in North America, Europe, the Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Chamberlain works as an advisor, board member, and investor in technology companies. He was with Morgan Stanley for more than 25 years. He served as managing director for 18 years, during which time he was the co-head of Global Technology Banking for 10 years. 

HealthStream EVP to Retire          

Healthcare workforce solutions company HealthStream’s EVP Arthur ‘Art’ E. Newman will retire at year-end 2015. He will remain available to the company as a Senior Executive Advisor, beginning in January 2016. In his new advisory role, he will be available to provide continued guidance and direction for some of the company’s most important partnerships. Prior to his position at HealthStream, Newman served as EVP at Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins.

Computer Programs & Systems Goes Through Multiple Executive Changes

Computer Programs and Systems (CPSI) announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Healthland Holding and its affiliates, Healthland, American HealthTech and Rycan Technologies. CPSI announced a series of changes that expand its management team. David Dye, in addition to continuing to serve as chairman of the board, has assumed the new role of chief growth officer of CPSI and will be focused on driving growth in all segments of CPSI’s business.

Chris Fowler, president of TruBridge, will assume the additional role of COO of CPSI and will be responsible for managing the integration of Healthland and CPSI.

Matt Chambless, currently Director of Financial Reporting, is assuming the role of CFO of CPSI.  

Connecture Appoints Former Merge Healthcare Chief as CEO

Health benefits administration platform Connecture apppointed Jeff Surges as CEO. Doug Schneider, current CEO since January 2012, will continue with company as president and chief product officer, and retain his seat on the company’s board. Surges joins the company following his most recent and senior roles as chairman of strategic health services and president of Healthgrades. Prior to those positions, Surges served as CEO and as a Director of Merge Healthcare, as well as President of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions.

Adherium Appoints Canada Based Pharmaceutical Entrepreneur as Director         

Adherium Limited, the company that designs and develops digital health technologies that address sub-optimal medication use in chronic diseases, appointed Canada based pharmaceutical entrepreneur William (Bill) Hunter MD to the company board as a non-executive director. Dr. Hunter is currently the president and CEO of renowned Cardiome Pharma Corp. Dr. Hunter is currently a director of Epirus Biopharmaceuticals, Rex Bionics as well as Cardiome.   

iCAD Appoints Former Portfolio Manager of Fidelity Investments as Newest Director

iCAD, the provider of image analysis, workflow solutions, and radiation therapy for the early identification and treatment of cancer, appointed Andrew Sassine to its Board of Directors. Sassine served as Portfolio Manager of Fidelity Investments until 2012. Sassine joined Fidelity in 1999 as a High Yield Research Analyst covering the Telecommunications, Satellite, Technology, Defense and Aerospace, and Restaurant Industries. He served as a VP in the Acquisition Finance Group at Fleet National Bank. He managed a portfolio of highly leveraged middle market companies at Continental Bank and Heller Financial in Chicago.      

OptimizeRx Appoints James Brooks as SVP of Business Development

Provider of technology solutions for health care industry OptimizeRx has appointed James Brooks to the new position of SVP of business development. Brooks brings more than 20 years of experience in sales & marketing, including sales force development, sales management, and organizational leadership processes within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Healthcare Technology sector. Prior to joining the company, he served as chief revenue officer at iCare, an enterprise cloud EHR and revenue cycle management system vendor.          

Certive Solutions Appoints Avnet’s CHRO as Board Member  

Certive Solutions, that provides business process management solutions to state and county health departments in the United States, named MaryAnn Miller to the Board. Miller is a SVP, member of the Executive Board and CHRO of Avnet. Prior to joining Avnet in 2006, Miller served as VP, HR, Electronic Systems at Goodrich Corporation.           

DATATRAK International Appoints Retired Healthcare Exec as Independent Director    

e-Clinical solutions firm DATATRAK International named Andrew Thomas Pitler as an independent director. Pitler joins DATATRAK with significant health care industry experience. Prior to his retirement in December 2013, he was the VP of Sales for Health Integrated for seven years.

CardioComm Solutions Appoints Experienced M&A Executive to its Board

CardioComm Solutions, the company that engages in the development of hardware and software for the cardiology field, announced that Robert Caines, Managing Partner at Paley Advisors, has joined the company’s board of directors. Former athenahealth General Counsel Joins Health Catalyst in Similar Role

Health Catalyst, a leader in healthcare data warehousing, analytics and outcomes improvement, announced that Dan Orenstein is joining the company as SVP, General Counsel, and Secretary. Orenstein comes to Health Catalyst after 10 years at athenahealth, where he most recently served as General Counsel, SVP and Board Secretary. Prior to joining athenahealth, Orenstein practiced in the areas of corporate, intellectual property, and healthcare law with law firms in Boston and Washington, D.C.

Scripps Health Appoints CIO from MaineHealth

Nonprofit health care system Scripps Health has hired Andy Crowder as its CIO and corporate SVP. Crowder comes to Scripps from MaineHealth, where he served as SVP and CIO. In addition to his work at MaineHealth, a not-for-profit integrated healthcare delivery network with 11 hospitals and 17,000 employees, Crowder served as CIO for Florida Hospital and Adventist Health System. He has deep implementation experience, including leading the successful Epic implementation at MaineHealth.

Mobile ECG Maker AliveCor Taps Former Google Exec Vic Gundotra as CEO

AliveCor hired former Google executive Vic Gundotra as CEO. Gundotra, who left Google last year as SVP, Social, takes the place of AliveCor board member Euan Thomson, who has been acting CEO since 2013. Gundotra spent seven years at Google. He led Google+, Google's social network, since it launched in 2011.  Prior to joining Google, Gundotra was at Microsoft. He joined Microsoft in 1991 and eventually became GM of Platform Evangelism.
