Twitter Appoints Co-Founder and iCEO Jack Dorsey as Permanent CEO

Twitter appointed interim CEO Jack Dorsey, 38, as permanent CEO. As former CEO Dick Costolo stepped down in June this year, the company had appointed its Chairman and co-founder Jack Dorsey as its interim CEO. The board had hired Spencer Stuart to run the search. Dorsey will also continue to serve as a member of the Board, but will no longer act as chairman. The company seeks a new chairman.

In addition, he will continue to serve as CEO of Square, the payments and financial services company he co-founded in 2009. Dorsey launched Twitter as a micro-blogging platform in 2006, as social media networks were gaining massive popularity.

In addition, the board also appointed Adam Bain, 42, as COO. Bain served as Twitter’s President, Global Revenue & Partnerships from September 2010 to October 2015. Prior to Twitter, Bain held a number of roles. From September 1999 to September 2010, Bain held a number of positions at News Corp., including EVP of Products & Technology and as President of its advertising arm, Fox Audience Network.
