Alibaba Group Appoints New Board Member to Fuel International Growth

Börje Ekholm joins as an independent director of Alibaba Group’s Board. Ekholm currently serves as President and CEO of Investor AB of Sweden and is a member of Investor AB’s board. He newly assumed responsibilities as head of Patricia Industries, a newly created division of Investor AB to manage the company’s privately-held and controlled companies. He is the non-executive Chairman of NASDAQ OMX and serves on the boards of global technology companies such as Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson.

Wipro Appoints Chief Strategy Officer to Board

Wipro appointed its Chief Strategy Officer Rishad Premji, 38, to its Board of Directors. Rishad Premji joined Wipro in 2007 and has played a critical role in defining the company’s strategy and driving its M&A function. In 2014, he spearheaded the setting up of the $100 million fund of Wipro Ventures. Rishad will continue to run Strategy and M&A in addition to his new responsibilities overseeing the Technology Office, Investor and Government Relations, and Wipro Ventures. Prior to joining Wipro, Rishad worked with Bain for two years and GE Capital in the US for four years.

JDS Uniphase Appoints Plantronics’ CFO and Seasoned Finance Exec as New Board Member

JDS Uniphase, the provider of network and service enablement solutions, appointed Pamela Strayer, 46, as a director of the company. Strayer is currently the CFO at Plantronics, a position she has held since July 2012. She is also Certified Public Accountant. She served as Chief Accounting Officer, VP and Controller, Senior Director and Assistant Corporate Controller at Autodesk.

Prior to Autodesk, she spent five years at Epiphany, a customer relationship management software company acquired by SSA Global Technologies in 2005, the last three years of which as VP of finance and corporate controller. She also spent one year at Informix Software, a relational database management system developer, as senior manager of worldwide revenue recognition prior to its acquisition by IBM in 2001.

Nuance Appoints Former Informix Chair/CEO to Board

Nuance Communications appointed Robert Finocchio, 63, as a new director of the Company. Finocchio is a trustee of Santa Clara University where he is also Dean's Executive Professor of Management. Previously, he served as President, CEO, and Chairman of Informix. Prior to that, he spent nine years at 3Com, where he last served as President of 3Com Systems. He has also served in numerous executive and management roles at IBM, Rolm Corporation and Bank of America.

Cornerstone OnDemand Appoints Concur Technologies Exec as Newest Board Member

Cloud-based talent management software company Cornerstone OnDemand elected Robert Cavanaugh, the former president of worldwide enterprise, SMB and government for Concur Technologies to board. Cavanaugh served in various roles, including as president of worldwide enterprise, SMB and government at Concur, a cloud-based provider of integrated travel and expense management solutions, from 1999 until its acquisition by SAP America in December 2014. Prior to joining Concur, Cavanaugh held consulting and implementation management positions at Seeker Software and Ceridian Corporation.

Zynga Adds Former Genentech CFO as Director

Zynga elected Louis J. Lavigne, Jr., 66, to serve as a member of the Board. Lavigne is currently the Managing Director of Lavrite, a management consulting firm specializing in corporate finance, accounting, growth strategy and management. Prior to joining Lavrite, Lavigne spent more than 23 years at Genentech, primarily serving as CFO from 1988-2005. Prior to Genentech, he held various financial management positions with Pennwalt Corporation.

Quantum's Board Sees Starboard Representative Changes

Jeffrey C. Smith, 42, has resigned from the data-center and scale-out storage solutions company Quantum's board. Starboard has exercised its replacement rights to recommend that Robert J. Andersen, 50, be appointed to the board. Andersen currently serves as the chief financial officer of Tessera Technologies, a leading developer and licensor of semiconductor packaging and interconnect solutions.

Applied Micro Circuits Appoints Investor as Newest Board Member

Applied Micro Circuits, the leader in computing and connectivity solutions for next-generation cloud infrastructure and data centers, appoints investor Christopher Zepf, 43, to its Board of Directors. He is the founder and Managing Principal and Portfolio Manager of Kingdom Ridge Capital. Founded in 2007, Kingdom Ridge currently holds 9.9% of AMCC shares. Zepf began his investment management career in 1997 at Fidelity Management & Research in Boston, Massachusetts. Before Fidelity, he worked at investment bank Wasserstein Perella. Most of his 20 years of investment experience have been dedicated to deep fundamental analysis of companies in the technology sector.

Par Technology Nominates Director with Financial Acumen and Risk Management Proficiency

PAR Technology, the provider of integrated technology solutions to the hospitality industry, appointed Cynthia A. Russo, 44, to Board. Russo was formerly EVP and CFO at MICROS Systems, a provider of integrated software and services solutions to the hospitality and retail industries. In 2014 MICROS became a subsidiary of Oracle. Russo joined Micros Systems in 1996 as a Senior Accountant.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
