Cisco’s IoT and M2M Platform Head Leaves to Join Movimento 

Cisco’s Head of Internet-of-Things and Machine-to-Machine Platform Mahbubul Alam left. Alam has joined Movimento as CTO. Earlier he was Senior Product Line Manager and BD Manager at Cisco, before being promoted to the IoT and M2M role.

HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang Replaces Peter Chou as CEO; HTC Design Chief Exits

HTC’s Chairwoman Cher Wang is taking over as CEO from the company’s long-time chief and co-founder, Peter Chou. Chou will remain at the company as head of its “Future Development Lab,” while Wang, who has been increasingly involved in the company over the past two years, will take over full management responsibility. Wang co-founded HTC in 1997, and in 2013 Chou handed her more of his CEO responsibilities in what was said to be a temporary move. She will also retain her chairperson position.

HTC design chief Jonah Becker is leaving the Taiwanese phone maker. Becker assumed the phone design helm last year, following the exit of Scott Croyle. Becker’s role is being assumed by Daniel Hundt, who is based in the company’s San Francisco design office.

ARRIS Group Appoints New General Counsel

Telecommunications equipment manufacturing company ARRIS Group named Patrick Macken as senior vice president and general counsel. Macken has provided legal counsel and support to ARRIS for more than 10 years as outside counsel at Troutman Sanders, where he most recently served as a partner in the firm's Corporate Group. Macken has been a frequent speaker on securities law and corporate governance matters and has co-authored a number of articles on federal securities laws and corporate finance transactions.

InterDigital’s Board Members Retire

Edward B. Kamins and Dr. Gilbert (Gil) F. Amelio retired from the board of InterDigital, the company that develops advanced technologies for wireless communications. Kamins joined InterDigital's Board in December 2003. He is the principal member of UpFront Advisors, a business consulting services firm he founded in 2009 following his retirement from Avnet, where he served as Corporate SVP.

Dr. Amelio joined InterDigital's Board in 2011, after a year as a valued member of the company's Technical Advisory Council. Dr. Amelio was a pioneering researcher before embarking on a business career that included tenures as CEO and Chairman of Apple; President, CEO and Chairman of National Semiconductor; and President of Rockwell Communication Systems, a unit of Rockwell International.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
