Intuit’s Long Time Board Member Retires
Christopher W. Brody, 69, decided to retire from the Board of Directors of Intuit. He will not stand for re-election. Brody serves as an Advisor of The GlenRock Group. He is Chairman of Vantage Partners, a private investment partnership. From 1972 to 1998, Brody was a Partner of Warburg, Pincus, and, for over 15 years, served as a member of its Operating Committee which managed the private equity and venture capital activities of the firm.
Sprint’s Owner SoftBank’s Vice Chairman Joins Sprint Board
Sprint announced that Nikesh Arora, 46, has joined the company’s board. Arora has been CEO of SoftBank Internet and Media, and vice chairman of SoftBank Corp. since October 2014. He served as the chief business officer and SVP of Google before that. Since 2004 he held several executive positions at Google and served as Senior Advisor of Value Creation at Silver Lake Partners since 2007. He also served as the chief marketing officer and a member of the management board of T-Mobile Europe.
Fiserv Appoints Investor and Finance Expert as Director
Alison Davis was appointed to the board of Fiserv. Since 2011, Davis has been a managing partner of Fifth Era, a firm that invests in and incubates early stage technology-enabled companies. Prior to Fifth Era, she was the managing partner of Belvedere Capital Partners, CFO of Barclays Global Investors, an institutional asset manager that is now part of BlackRock, a senior partner at A.T. Kearney, and a consultant at McKinsey. Davis is currently a director of RBS, Diamond Foods and Unisys.
Lenovo Appoints Yahoo! Co-Founder Jerry Yang to Board
Lenovo named seasoned entrepreneur-investor, technology visionary, founder and former CEO of Yahoo!, Jerry Yang, as an independent non-executive director of the Company. With the appointment, Yang ceases to act as Board Observer of the Company. Yang co-founded Yahoo! in 1995 and served as its CEO from 2007 to January 2009. He also served as a member of the board of Yahoo! until January 2012. Yang is currently a director of Workday and Alibaba Group Holding Limited.
Red Hat Appoints GE Veteran as Board Member
Red Hat appointed Charlene Begley, 47, a former executive at CEO, to its board of Directors. Begley served in various capacities at General Electric from 1988 through December 2013. Most recently, she served in a dual role as SVP and Chief Information Officer, as well as the President and CEO of GE’s Home and Business Solutions business. Begley is currently a director of The NASDAQ OMX Group and WPP plc.
Quest Diagnostics Appoints Director with Scientific and Commercial Experience in Pharma and Biotech Industries
Quest Diagnostics, provider of diagnostic testing, information and services, elected Jeffrey M. Leiden, M.D., Ph.D., 58, to serve as a director. Dr. Leiden is the Chairman, President and CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Prior to that, Dr. Leiden was a Managing Director at Clarus Ventures, President and COOand Chief Scientific Officer at Abbott Laboratories, Chief of Cardiology at the University of Chicago, the Elkan R. Blout Professor of Biological Sciences at the Harvard School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Rackspace Names President as CEO and Director
Rackspace’s new CEO is Taylor Rhodes, the company’s president, who joined in 2007. He replaces Graham Weston, the company’s largest shareholder who stepped in following the unexpected departure of Lanham Napier earlier this year.
Rhodes retains his previous role as president. Previously, he was SVP and chief customer officer; SVP and managing director, international; and helped launch Rackspace Enterprise Services. Before that, Rhodes worked at EDS in a series of progressively more challenging leadership roles, managing end-to-end relationships with large global customers, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantry officer.
Yahoo CIO Joins ElasticBox Board as DevOps Gains Momentum
Mike Kail joins the DevOps platform company as a strategic adviser. Kail joined Yahoo! as CIO this year. Most recently, he served as VP of IT Operations at Netflix. Prior to that, he was VP of IT Operations at Attensity, where he was responsible for the Americas data center operations team, including managing various big data systems including their Hadoop cluster, HBase, and MongoDB components.
Former U.S. Senator and Former Medco CEO Joins Board of Telehealth Services Provider Teladoc
William Frist, a former U.S. senator, and David Snow, former chair and CEO of Medco Health Solutions, have been named to the board of Teladoc, a telehealth services provider.
Senator Frist is a world-renowned cardiothoracic transplant surgeon and a leading authority on health care policy. During his tenure on Capitol Hill, he served on both the Health and Finance Committees, where he was instrumental in passing health care reform legislation and ultimately served as Senate Majority Leader. Senator Frist brings to Teladoc decades of experience in providing top quality patient care, driving health care policy and reform, and a reputation for championing innovations that deliver improved health care outcomes.
David B. Snow, Jr., is a health care industry veteran, innovator and entrepreneur who has created and implemented solutions to manage the rising costs of health care. Most recently, he served as the chairman and CEO of Medco Health Solutions, one of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit managers. Prior to joining Medco, he served as president and COO at Empire BlueCross BlueShield. Currently, Snow serves as the chairman and CEO of Cedar Gate Technologies, a health care IT data analytics company.
