SAP Appoints its CMO as First Chief Digital Officer; Also Names New CMO

 

SAP named its CMO Jonathan Becher, 49, as the company's first Chief Digital Officer to lead the company's new digital business unit. Becher, a technology and marketing expert, joined SAP during the 2007 acquisition of Pilot Software, where he was president-CEO. Prior to leading Pilot Software, Becher was president-CEO of Accrue Software, a provider of web analytics, and president-CEO of NeoVista Software, a predictive analytics and data mining company.

Simultaneously, SAP has also appointed Maggie Chan Jones as the new CMO. Jones will join SAP from Level 3 Communications, where she served as SVP, North America Marketing. 
Before Joining Level 3, Jones worked for seven years at Microsoft, where most recently she served as director of Cloud Services and Office 365 in the U.S. Marketing and Operations Group. Prior to that role, Maggie held several leadership and marketing positions in product marketing, product management, and channel strategy and development at Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and ADIC.

Dora Vell

She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
