IBM Appoints Early Pioneer in Health IT for the U.S. Army as CMIO for US Federal Healthcare Practice 

IBM added Keith Salzman, M.D., as Chief Medical Information Officer for IBM’s US Federal Healthcare Practice. Most recently, he was Chief Medical Information Officer of defense and civilian IT contractor CACI. Dr. Salzman brings more than two decades of experience in delivering quality care to patients and driving the use of medical informatics within the U.S. Department of Defense military health system at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. 

Athenahealth CFO is Leaving to Join Demandware

Tim Adams, CFO at athenahealth, a vendor of cloud-based EHR and practice management systems has been named CFO of Demandware, an e-commerce software firm. Karl Stubelis, athenahealth’s VP and corporate controller and a former Sapient exec, will serve as acting CFO while the company searches for Adams’ replacement.

WebMD Appoints Director with Expertise in Health Insurance and Employee Benefits

WebMD appointed health care industry veteran William J. Marino, 69, to its Board. Marino served as Chairman, President and CEO of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the state's largest health insurer until he retired in 2011. During that time, he also served as Co-Chairman of America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), Chairman of the National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM) and on the Board of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA).

Dell’s VP & GM of Healthcare and Life Sciences division Leaves for Truven Health Analytics

August Calhoun, Ph.D. has joined Truven Health Analytics as SVP and GM of Provider Solutions. Dr. Calhoun joins Truven Health from Dell, where he was VP and GM of the Healthcare and Life Sciences division. Before this, he was GM of the company’s Healthcare and Life Sciences services business soon after the acquisition of Perot Services, and earlier, led the Dell healthcare and life sciences field sales organization.

TriZetto Names Former Allscripts Exec as Provider Solutions President 

TriZetto, the provider of healthcare IT and services, has named John McAuley as its new President of TriZetto Provider Solutions. Most recently he served as COO, Coordinated Care Solutions at PatientPoint. Earlier he was SVP & GM, IT Managed Services at Allscripts (merged with Eclipsys in Sept 2010); SVP, Outsourcing & Support at Eclipsys; VP North American Sales, NM at Philips Medical Systems; and served in several roles at ADAC Labs, most recently as VP, General Manager at ADAC UGM Medical Systems.

Trover Solutions Names Accenture Exec as SVP for Newly Launched Division

Trover Solutions, an independent provider of insurance subrogation, claims recovery and cost containment solutions, has tapped David Hochheiser to join the company as SVP, Payment Integrity Solutions. He was Senior Manager at Accenture, most recently. Castlight Health Appoints athenahealth COO Ed Park to Board

Anthelio Appoints Country Head–India to Additional Role of CTO

Chris Roche has been named Chief Commercial Officer at Aridhia, a health informatics company. Roche spent 14 years at EMC, most recently as EMEA CTO Big Data Collaborative Networks at EMC. Before joining EMC, he worked for Accenture, and also spent three years at ICL working in the CEO’s office, integrating ICL’s six businesses into one. He started his career at IBM.

Telehealth Services Provider AMC Health Appoints CFO

Walter Hosp has been named CFO at AMC Health, a telehealth services provider. The healthcare industry veteran comes to AMC Health after serving seven years as EVP, CFO and Chief Administrative Officer of HMS Holdings Corporation. Previously, Hosp was VP and Treasurer of Medco Health Solutions, CFO and President of the Business Support Center at CIBA Specialty Chemicals, VP and Treasurer of CIBA-Geigy.

Former CIO of GE Medical Systems Joins ikaSystems

Ken Accardi was named VP of engineering at ikaSystems, which provides web-based ERP technology for process automation and intelligence management. Most recently, he founded and was CTO of Ankota. Earlier he served as Executive Consultant at Albion, VP Process Engineering at Tele Atlas, VP Business Solutions at ViryaNet, and Chief Information Officer - Global Service at GE Medical Systems.

Emdeon SVP Leaves to Join MediTract 

Ed Caldwell has been named SVP of sales and marketing at MediTract, a vendor of health care contracting operations and efficiency tools. He is former SVP of revenue cycle solutions at Emdeon, a vendor of healthcare revenue and payment cycle management solutions. Earlier he served as SVP, Institutional Sales and SVP of Provider Sales and Services at Emdeon.

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members.
