Cisco Names Key Cloud Leaders to Drive Cloud Strategy 

Cisco appoints Nick Earle as SVP, of the newly launched cloud sales and go-to-market unit. Most recently, Earle served as SVP of Worldwide Services Sales and Channels. Before that, he was SVP of Customer Advocacy European Markets & Global Enterprise and SVP of Services for European Markets. He was CEO of Streamserve, President & GM of EMEA for Ariba, President of HP's Internet incubator-E-Services Solutions, VP of Worldwide Marketing, Computer Systems and then as CMO, Enterprise Computing for HP, and Senior Analyst in the M&A department at CitiCorp.

The new cloud unit will also be led by Gee Rittenhouse, former President, Bell Labs, the R&D subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent, and Faiyaz Shahpurwala, SVP Cloud Infrastructure and Managed Services.

SAP Announces High-Level Executive Shakeup to Grow Cloud Services and HANA In-Memory Computing Portfolio

SAP appointed Robert Enslin and Bernd Leukert to the company's Executive Board. Both Enslin and Leukert, also SAP veterans, and will play a crucial role in helping SAP grow new business areas – namely its cloud services and HANA in-memory computing portfolios. Enslin will continue to lead global customer operations and Leukert will assume responsibility for the global development organization. Enslin joined SAP in 1992 and began his career as an SAP consultant supporting customers in South Africa. He has steadily risen to his current role leading sales and services and has presided over the integration of SAP's go-to-market teams to advance a simplified experience for SAP customers.

Leukert joined SAP in 1994 and has long been one of the company's foremost technologists and solution visionaries. He was appointed to the Global Managing Board in 2013 after successfully orchestrating the development and delivery of SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA. He will now lead the global development organization in redefining business applications on the HANA Cloud platform.

Dr. Vishal Sikka, executive board member for products and innovation and one of the key architects of the company’s HANA in-memory computing platform is resigning citing personal reasons.

The Supervisory Board also approved the appointment of Helen Arnold to the Global Managing Board, to strengthen the next generation leadership team of SAP and will support the company's cloud operations and people agenda. An 18-year veteran of SAP, Arnold will assume the role of CIO for the SAP Group and lead cloud operations and the HANA Enterprise Cloud, in addition to her current responsibilities as the head of SAP's internal Business Innovations and Application Services organization. She has broad experience leading SAP's internal innovation agenda, most recently transitioning SAP to a next-generation financial management system on the SAP HANA platform.

Ericsson Appoints Head of Business Cloud & IP 

Anders Lindblad, 63, current President of Ericsson Region Middle East, has been appointed SVP and Head of Business Unit Cloud & IP. Previously, he served as the Head of Market Unit Turkey & Israel at LM Ericsson Telephone Co., and held VP position in various capacities and was Director of BD for Ericsson U.K. Earlier in his career, he served as a Fighter pilot for Swedish Air Force.

IBM Exec Joins Digital River as EMEA Head

Digital River, the company that builds e-commerce sites for software publishers and online retailers, appointed Marco Vergani as its GM and VP of EMEA. Vergani joins Digital River from IBM, where he most recently served as the VP of European sales for the Global Process Services division. During his career at IBM, Vergani also spent five years leading IBM's Retail Store Solutions division across EMEA.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
