Stephen J. Luczo, 57, Chairman and CEO of Seagate resigned from Microsoft Board. Luczo joined Microsoft’s board in May 2012. Prior to his current role, Luczo served at Seagate as President and Chief Operating Officer, and SVP of Corporate Development. Prior to joining Seagate in 1993, he was Senior Managing Director of the Global Technology Group of Bear, Stearns & Co., an investment banking firm.
Phil Spencer has been promoted and will helm the Xbox and Xbox Live divisions, which includes Xbox's software, and that Spencer, who previously served as VP of Microsoft Game Studios, will report directly to Terry Myerson, the head of Windows.
Xbox Chief Product Officer Marc Whitten is leaving Microsoft to assume a similar role at Sonos, the company announced today in a blog post. Whitten helped shepherd all three of the Xbox consoles, including last November’s Xbox One, to launch. The rest of the Xbox leadership team “will remain intact,” according to the blog post, and will report to software platform EVP Terry Myerson. The news comes as a surprise in part because Whitten had been scheduled to appear at this week’s Game Developers Conference on behalf of the Xbox One, including in an on-stage “fireside chat” on Friday. The official GDC schedule has been updated to reflect that corporate VP Phil Spencer will now be doing the interview instead.
Antoine Leblond, a longtime Windows and Office executive at Microsoft, is leaving the company, according to Re/Code. Leblond worked at Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft for nearly 25 years. But he was moved aside in a reorganization last year. He is leaving the company on Monday. Leblond worked closely with ex-Windows chief Steven Sinofsky. Leblond focused on the cloud services and store for Windows 8.
Salesforce.com Appoints Gen. Colin Powell as Director for More Public Sector Focus
Salesforce.com appointed General Colin Powell to its Board of Directors. General Powell is a retired four star general and served for 35 years in the United States Army. He has served as U.S. National Security Advisor, Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and he was the 65th Secretary of State of the United States. He is the recipient of numerous U.S. military awards as well as two Presidential Medals of Freedom. General Powell is a strategic limited partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Symantec Terminates CEO; Appoints Board Member as Interim Leader
Symantec appointed board member Michael Brown as interim president and CEO, following the termination of Steve Bennett as the company's president and CEO and his resignation from Symantec's board. A special committee of the board will immediately begin the search for a permanent CEO with the assistance of a leading executive search firm. Steve Bennett was named Symantec’s CEO in July 2012. Prior to that, Bennett joined Symantec’s board in February 2010, and was chairman from 2011 to 2013.
Bennett was previously Intuit’s president and CEO. He joined Intuit after a 23-year career at General Electric, where he held a variety of key management roles in numerous areas of the business, including GE Capital e-Business, GE Capital Vendor Financial Services, GE Electrical Distribution and Control, GE Appliances, GE Medical Systems and GE Supply.
Interim CEO Brown joined Symantec's board following the company's merger with VERITAS Software in 2005. He has been the board chairman and CEO coach for several successful technology companies prior to their acquisitions, including EqualLogic, Line 6 and The Echo Nest. He previously served as chairman and CEO of Quantum Corporation.

Engineering simulation software developer ANSYS’ VP, Worldwide Sales & Support, Joseph C. Fairbanks, Jr., 58, resigns. Before joining ANSYS as VP, Fairbanks served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Black Oak Computer Services, VP of Sales and Marketing of the IBM Business Unit of Avnet Hallmark, an IBM Distributor, and served as the Director of Sales Operations of Aspen Technology.
Riverbed Technology Promotes Americas Sales Leader
Riverbed Technology promotes VP, Americas Channels, Rob Rosiello, to SVP, Americas Sales. Rosiello joined Riverbed in mid 2012 as a key leader in the Americas sales organization. RealPage Names SVP, Finance W. Bryan Hill as CFO
W. Bryan Hill was named CFO and treasurer at RealPage. Timothy J. Barker, the last CFO and treasurer, resigned to pursue other opportunities and interests. Hill served as RealPage’s SVP of finance since 2007. He previously served as SVP and chief accounting officer of formerly publicly traded Dyncorp International (acquired by Cerberus Capital Management in 2010), and held the position of VP and chief accounting officer and other financial management positions at SourceHov, a document and information outsourcing solution provider.
Fleetmatics Appoints HubSpot CEO and Intuit VP to Board
Fleet tracking service provider Fleetmatics appointed HubSpot CEO and Co-Founder, Brian Halligan and Intuit VP and GM, Allison Mnookin, to its Board. Halligan co-founded HubSpot, a leading inbound marketing software in 2006 to help businesses transform the way they market their products. Under Halligan's leadership, the company has been widely recognized for its rapid growth, innovative culture, and transformative approach to marketing.
Mnookin is VP and GM of Intuit QuickBase, a product which allows workgroups to build customer solutions that enable their productivity. She's held several positions at Intuit during her tenure, including GM in Intuit's Small Business Division. Prior to joining Intuit in 1998, she held several sales and product marketing positions with Oracle.
BMC Exec Joins EnerNOC as VP, Professional Services
One of the largest providers of energy intelligence software and services EnerNOC appointed Phil Pergola as VP of Professional Services. Pergola brings nearly 20 years of software industry experience, including six years as a professional services leader at BMC Software, where he most recently served as Area VP, Professional Services. Phil also worked at BladeLogic for six years, most recently as VP, Customer Support and worked at Accenture as a Senior Consultant.
