Micron Technology Appoints Quality Lead

Memory technologies giant Micron Technology named Rajan Rajgopal as VP of Quality. Rajgopal most recently served as the VP of Global Quality and Customer Enablement for GLOBALFOUNDRIES in Singapore. Rajgopal's professional background includes serving in multiple executive and management positions involving customer programs, manufacturing operations and engineering at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, where he had worked since 1995. He also worked as a member of the technical staff at the Texas Instruments Semiconductor Research and Design Center in Dallas from 1989 to 1995. 

Juniper Networks Taps Barclays Veteran as New CEO

Juniper Networks said today that it has named Shaygan Kheradpir, currently chief operations and technology officer at Barclays, as its new CEO. Kheradpir will replace outgoing CEO Kevin Johnson on Jan. 1, 2014. Johnson, who had joined Juniper from Microsoft in 2008, will remain on Juniper’s board.

 

Equinix Appoints Americas Head and Sales Leader

IBX data center & colocation provider Equinix appoints Karl Strohmeyer as President of the Americas, responsible for the management, strategy and growth plan for Equinix in the Americas, with P&L accountability for the region. Strohmeyer joins Equinix from Level 3 Communications, serving there for twelve years, most recently being the group VP for the North American enterprise group. Prior to Level 3, he worked at NetRail, most recently as EVP for corporate development. Before joining NetRail, he held various positions with BellSouth including business development manager.

 

Equinix also appointed Pete Hayes as chief sales officer (CSO). Hayes was previously EVP, Commercial Sales and Support at Frontier Communications. Hayes spent nearly 15 years with Microsoft where he held a number of positions. Most recently Hayes was VP, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). He also developed Microsoft's worldwide strategy for enterprise customers and created Microsoft's U.S. Public Sector business. Prior to Microsoft, Hayes worked at IBM in various sales, technical and management roles.

Marvell Technology's iCFO Resigns

Brad D. Feller, 39, storage, communications and consumer semiconductor products company Marvell Technology's Interim CFO, resigns from his position to pursue other opportunities. Prior to Marvell, he served as the corporate controller of Integrated Device Technology (IDT). Prior to joining IDT, he served in various roles at Ernst & Young in the high technology practice.

Avaya Exec Joins Aruba Networks for Sales Role

Aruba Networks, the networking vendor selling enterprise wireless LAN and edge access networking equipment, appoints John DiLullo as EVP of worldwide sales. Most recently, he served as president of Americas theater operations at Avaya. Previously, he served as president of both the Latin America and Asia Pacific regions for Avaya, VP of worldwide sales, channels and field operations for SonicWALLand VP of channels and worldwide distribution for Cisco Systems.

John DiLullo will be replacing Mike Kirby. After nine years of leadership and successful sales execution, Kirby is stepping down from his sales position and will assume an advisory role.

Riverbed Technology Exec Joins Fusion-io to Lead Global Field Ops

Fusion-io, ioMemory software defined storage solutions company, appoints Ian Whiting as EVP, global field operations. Previously SVP sales, Americas at Riverbed Technology, as well as SVP worldwide sales at Brocade Communications, Whiting has a proven track record of global sales leadership at leading enterprise information technology companies. He held various sales roles at Compaq, NetWorth and Data Translation Networking.

 

Emulex’s Executive Chairman to Depart

Networking equipment maker Emulex’s Executive Chairman, Jim McCluney, 62, will be continuing with the Company through February 6, 2014, after which he will depart and not stand for re-election to the board. He served earlier as CEO, President and COO of the company. Prior to Emulex’s acquisition of Vixel Corporation (Vixel) in 2003, McCluney had served as Vixel’s Chairman, President and CEO. Previously, McCluney served as President and COO of Crag Technologies, formerly Ridge Technologies, a storage system manufacturer, and served in various positions at Apple Computer, including SVP of Worldwide Operations and VP of European Operations.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. She has published several Business of Leadership reports on governance and leadership and has been quoted in numerous articles including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, Agenda Week, MSNBC, Mass High Tech, the OPUS for the World Economic Forum, Boston Business Journal, The Globe & Mail, CIO Magazine, and IEEE. She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
