Symantec CFO Joins McKesson

McKesson named James A. Beer, 50, as EVP and CFO. Beer will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions for McKesson and replaces Jeff C. Campbell, who left the company in June 2013 to become CFO of American Express. Beer comes to McKesson from Symantec where he served as EVP and CFO managing the worldwide finance organization with responsibility for accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, investor relations, corporate development, purchasing, and audit.

Prior to Symantec, Beer was CFO of AMR Corporation and American Airlines. He also managed American Beacon Advisors, a subsidiary of AMR. Prior to joining AMR, Beer spent seven years as a management consultant at Andersen Consulting, now known as Accenture, in Europe and the United States.

Until a permanent replacement for Beer has been named, Andrew H. Del Matto, 54, will serve as the Symantec’s acting CFO. Del Matto has served as SVP and Chief Accounting Officer since 2012, and was Corporate Treasurer and VP of Finance Business Operations earlier. Prior to joining Symantec in 2005, Del Matto had been employed by Inktomi Corporation and SGI Corporation in a variety of finance and accounting leadership roles. He started his career with KPMG as a certified public accountant.
