Electronic Arts Promotes Sports Head as CEO

Electronic Arts has named its Sports head Andrew Wilson, 39, as CEO and a director of the Company. Wilson has served as EVP, EA SPORTS and Origin, EA’s consumer platform for downloading digital games. Before that, he served as SVP, EA SPORTS; SVP, Global Online and VP, EA SPORTS. Wilson has held various positions within the Company since joining the Company in Australia in year 2000, also working in Asia and Europe. 

Before joining EA, he worked for a consortium of online companies that specialized primarily in the creation of content and services in sports and entertainment media.

Wilson fills a vacancy created when former EA CEO John Riccitiello stepped down from that role earlier this year.

She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
