Retired HP Printing Vet Joins Harris’ Board
Harris Corporation, the international telecommunications equipment company, elected Vyomesh I. Joshi, 59, to its Board of Directors. Joshi retired in 2012 after a 32-year career at Hewlett-Packard, where he most recently was EVP of the company's Imaging and Printing Group. He joined HP in 1980 as a research and development engineer and went on to hold management positions of increasing responsibility within the company until his retirement. Joshi is a director of Wipro and served as a Director ofYahoo! from 2005 to 2012.
Alcatel-Lucent Appoints Ex-Goldman Sachs Partner as Chief Financial and Legal Officer
Alcatel-Lucent named Jean Raby as new Chief Financial and Legal Officer. Raby will replace current CFO Paul Tufano, who’s departure was announced earlier. Raby was previously a partner and managing director at the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs, and before that worked as an associate attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell between 1989 and 1996.
Ingram Micro Mobility Appoints APAC Head
Ingram Micro appointed Felix Wong, 46, a 20-year veteran of the mobile telecommunications and technology industries, and a former executive of BrightPoint for 12 years, as president of Ingram Micro Mobility Asia Pacific. Wong, who is currently VP and managing director of South East Asia for Ingram Micro Mobility, will continue to be based in Singapore and will report to Shailendra Gupta, who assumes the newly created role heading the company's global mobility operations as senior EVP and president, Mobility. Wong will replace Bruce Thomlinson, current president of Ingram Micro Mobility Asia Pacific.
British Telecom Divisional CIO Joins WANdisco as Worldwide Engineering VP
WANdisco, a provider of high-availability software for global enterprises to meet the challenges of Big Data and distributed software development, appointed Richard Fletcher, former British Telecom executive, as the company's new Vice President of Worldwide Engineering. Fletcher joins WANdisco from British Telecom where he was CIO of BT Conferencing, British Telecom's teleconferencing division. Prior to BT, Fletcher served as COO of voice and communications services provider Ribbit, which was acquired by BT. Before Ribbit, he was COO of broadband and telecommunications provider PlusNet.
Huawei Appoints CEO for South Africa
Huawei, one of China's leading manufacturers of telecommunications equipment, has named Wilson Liu as the new CEO of Huawei South Africa. Liu joined Huawei in year 2000 and has held a number of senior management positions with the company, including CEO for both Huawei Oman and Huawei United Arab Emirates and serving as a Senior Technical Instructor at Huawei University in China, an advanced training centre dedicated to skills and knowledge training and development for employees.
