Equinix Appoints Americas’ Leader to Newly Created COO Role
Equinix, the provider of carrier-neutral data centers and internet exchanges, has appointed Charles Meyers, 47, formerly President of the Americas for Equinix, to the newly created role of COO. The addition of the COO function is part of a reorganization designed to align the company globally, the global sales, marketing, operations and client services functions now reporting to the COO. Currently Equinix has a search underway to fill the President of the Americas role. Meyers will provide continued leadership in this capacity until his replacement is hired. Prior to joining Equinix, Meyers was employed at VeriSign, most recently as Group President of Messaging and Mobile Media, and as a Product Group Executive for the Security and Communications portfolio. Prior to that, he held various positions at Level 3 Communications, including Group VP of Global Marketing, President of IP and Data Services and SVP, Softswitch Services.
Riverbed Technology Appoints Long-Timer to Board; Appoints Cisco Exec as CIO
Riverbed Technology, the technology company that specializes in improving the performance of networks and networked applications, appointed Eric Wolford, 46, to its board of directors. Wolford currently serves as Riverbed's President, Product Group. Wolford will be retiring from his daily responsibilities as a member of executive management in the fourth quarter of this year. He served as EVP, SVP and VP of Marketing and Business Development at Riverbed. Before that, he was the SVP of Marketing and Business Development for netVmg, VP of Product Marketing and Management at Inktomi Corporation and FastForward Networks (acquired by Inktomi), and served in various sales, marketing and product management roles at AT&T.
Riverbed also appointed Ginna Raahauge as SVP and CIO. Prior to Riverbed, Raahauge was VP, IT at Cisco, where she was responsible for directing the Customer Value Chain Management IT organization. Prior to Cisco, Raahauge was the VP of IT and Real Estate for PalmSource from the time of spinoff from Palm through the peak of its growth. Raahauge is on the board of MentorNet.
Cogent Communications Hires New Chief Revenue Officer
Cogent Communications Group, the Internet access and data transport services company, hired Ernest Ortega, 48, as VP of Global Sales and Chief Revenue Officer. Prior to joining Cogent, Ortega served as EVP of Sales and Marketing at XO Communications. He also served as President of Carrier Sales and VP of national accounts at the company.
Emulex Hires Operations Exec from QLogic
Emulex, the provider of a range of network convergence solutions, named Perry Mulligan as SVP of operations. Most recently, Mulligan served as the SVP of operations at QLogic, responsible for operations, test engineering, supply chain management, IT and facilities management. Prior to joining QLogic, he served as SVP of supply chain management and chief procurement officer at Solectron, and held roles as VP of supply chain management and president of commodity management for Asia at Celestica. Prior to entering the electronics manufacturing services industry, Mulligan held a number of management positions at Nortel in operations, IT, and materials management.
