WebMD Appoints CEO and President

WebMD has appointed David J. Schlanger, 53, as CEO and Steven L. Zatz, M.D., 56, as its President. Schlanger has served as Interim CEO since May 2013 and was Senior VP - Strategic and Corporate Development. Schlanger is a veteran of the organization having served in senior roles at WebMD and its predecessor companies since 1995. Prior to joining WebMD, Schlanger was Executive Director, Business Development at Merck.

Dr. Zatz has been with WebMD and its predecessor companies for more than ten years, most recently as EVP, Professional Services, where he was responsible for the Company's professional websites and services including its flagship site for healthcare professionals, Medscape.com. Prior to WebMD, Dr. Zatz held leadership roles at US Quality Algorithms (USQA), which he founded as the quality measurement subsidiary of US Healthcare (now Aetna), and Physicians' Online, where he was CEO.

Conifer Health Solutions Appoints Acquisition Strategy Leader

Conifer Health Solutions, a wholly owned health information management subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare, appoints James Bohnsack, former VP of Health Care at TransUnion Healthcare, as VP of Acquisition Strategy. Senior Director, Business Development at Connance, Interim President & Chief Executive Officer at Interpoint Partners, and VP Healthcare Revenue Solutions at Encore Capital Group.

AliveCor Appoints Board Member as iCEO

Developer of a digital heart monitor application, AliveCor, appointed its board member and and Khosla Ventures operating partner Euan Thomson, as interim CEO. Thomson replaces previous CEO Dan Sullivan, a longtime medical device industry executive and entrepreneur, who has now left the company. Thomson also previously served as interim CEO at AliveCor. Prior to joining Khosla Ventures earlier this year, he spent ten years as CEO of medical device company Accuray, which he grew from $10 million in revenues in 2002 to more than $400 million in 2012

Pearson Exec Joins Avantas as VP

Ron Rheinheimer has been named VP at Avantas, a provider of labor management technology and services for the health care industry, focusing on business development and marketing initiatives. Prior to joining Avantas, Rheinheimer served as VP of strategy & innovation in the K-12 Technology Group of Pearson. Prior to this role, Rheinheimer was VP and GM of K-12 Integrated Learning Solutions (a joint effort between eCollege and Pearson School Systems) and Chief Marketing Officer in the School Systems group of Pearson. Before this, Rheinheimer held a number of executive-level positions at early-stage companies focusing of emerging technology solutions.

Former TriZetto Exec to Lead Product Strategy at Context 4 Healthcare

Context 4 Healthcare, a provider of reimbursement database and software tools for the health care industry named John Danza as VP of product strategy. He is a former health care product manager at Infogix. Having spent over 19 years with The TriZetto Group, he served in various leadership positions including AVP, Benefits Administration Product Management.

Vitera Healthcare Solutions Welcomes McKesson Exec as VP, Client Operations

Vitera Healthcare Solutions, the nation’s premier provider of ambulatory electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software and services, named Jeremy Muench as SVP of Client Operations. A Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Muench spent about eight years with McKesson in a range of leadership roles. Most recently, he served as SVP of Operations for McKesson Provider Technologies. Before that, he served at GE Healthcare and GE Capital, divisions of General Electric, and at Bain & Company.

Predilytics Appoints WellTok CEO and TriZetto Founder to Board

Jeff Margolis, Chair and CEO of WellTok, a developer of a consumer engagement application for health plans, has been appointed to the board of directors at Predilytics, a predictive analytics company for the health care industry. Jeff Margolis founded The TriZetto Group in 1997. He is the former SVP and CIO of FHP International Corp., former chairman of the Managed Care Executive Group. He is a certified public accountant.

Former McKesson Exec Joins as CEO of Socrates Analytics

Jim Evans, former VP of network and financial management at McKesson Health Solutions, has been named CEO of Socrates Analytics, a health IT company. Evans brings 20 years of expertise in healthcare data management, strategy, reimbursement and corporate development. He is a specialist in payer and provider markets and previously held senior roles in the past. He has served as VP, Payment Management and VP, Claims Performance at McKesson. Before that, he was Director at Cerenti Marketing Group, Vice President, Client Strategy at KeyBank, Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, and served as Lieutenant in the US Navy.

Dora Vell

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
