VMware Appoints Former SAP Exec as GM for End-User Computing Business

VMware named Sanjay Poonen as executive vice president and general manager of VMware’s End-User Computing business unit. In this role, Poonen is responsible for strategy, products, engineering and delivery across all of VMware’s end-user computing solutions. Most recently, Poonen was president and corporate officer of Platform Solutions and the Mobile Division at SAP. During his more than seven years at SAP, Poonen held several executive-level roles in development and sales. Poonen started SAP’s analytics business in 2006, and led all of SAP’s platform solutions – analytics, database, big data and. Prior to SAP, Poonen held executive roles at Symantec, VERITAS and Informatica, and he began his career as a software engineer at Microsoft, followed by Apple.

Rackspace Hosting’s President Steps Down

Lew Moorman, President of cloud hosting provider Rackspace Hosting, has stepped down from his position, in order to deal with multiple family health issues. Moorman has been with the company for 13 years. He has played an important role in developing OpenStack, the open source cloud computing platform that Rackspace and NASA jointly founded three years ago. Moorman joined the company in 2000 and has served in a variety of strategy and marketing roles throughout the company's growth. Before joining Rackspace, Moorman held several positions at the management consulting firm McKinsey, advising high technology clients on critical strategic issues.

Cisco Exec Named CIO at Riverbed

Riverbed Technology appointed Ginna Raahauge as Senior Vice President and CIO. Her responsibilities will include the company's IT strategy, applications, infrastructure, security, and support. Prior to Riverbed, Raahauge was Vice President, IT at Cisco, where she was responsible for directing the Customer Value Chain Management IT organization. Prior to Cisco, Raahauge was the Vice President of IT and Real Estate for PalmSource from the time of spinoff from Palm through the peak of its growth. Raahauge is on the board of MentorNet, a non-profit with a mission to ensure the success of the technology and engineering workforce of the future, and is a member of two angel investment firms that specialize in bringing capital to demographics that have historically been ignored.

TeleTech Appoints Healthcare Services Expert to Board

TeleTech, a leading global provider of technology-enabled, cloud-based, customer-centric business process solutions, appointed Tracy L. Bahl, 49, to its Board. Bahl is a recognized expert in healthcare services strategy and economics. Since 2007, he has served as a special advisor to General Atlantic and its portfolio companies including MedExpress, a chain of urgent care service centers throughout the United States, and Emdeon, a provider of health information exchange and revenue cycle management solutions. Prior to joining General Atlantic, he served as the CEO of Uniprise, a division of UnitedHealth Group, and CMO for UnitedHealth. He was an executive with CIGNA Healthcare prior to that.

Nebula Appoints Seasoned Enterprise Technology Expert to Board

Nebula, the private cloud computing company, named industry veteran and former Veritas Software chairman and CEO Mark Leslie to the company’s board. During his tenure as CEO, Veritas experienced tremendous success—achieving the distinction of becoming a Fortune 1000 company. Leslie is an investor and board member in various high tech start-ups and lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, designed and developed the first software hypervisor while employed at IBM in 1969. In addition to Nebula, Leslie serves on the Boards of Directors of companies including Big Switch Networks and SugarCRM.

Cloud Backup Provider Intronis Appoints CMO

Intronis appointed Aaron Dun as the company’s first CMO, to further its growth and partner development plans. Before joining Intronis, Dun served as the vice president of marketing and strategy for Percussion Software, where he led the business to a stronger focus on new product innovation and market direction. Before Percussion, he led marketing behind Ness Technologies, Lionbridge Technologies and Softscape, which was acquired by SumTotal.

Cloud Service Provider PeakColo Appoints New Sales Leader

PeakColo, a leading enterprise-class IaaS cloud service provider for channel partners, appointed Dave Woodward as SVP of Sales. Woodward joins Peak from Insight, a Fortune 500 global provider of IT solutions, where he served as SVP, U.S. Sales. Woodward’s distinguished career spans some of the largest technology companies in the industry including roles as Regional Vice President of Sales and Delivery at Calence, Regional Channel Manager at Cisco and Global Sales Manager at Lucent Technologies.
