Former HP CTO Joins Altera Board

Altera Corporation named Shane Robison to the company's board of directors. Mr. Robison served most recently as EVP, CTO and chief strategy officer for HP. Additionally, he held senior executive leadership positions in product development and business management with world-leading technology companies, including AT&T Labs, Cadence Design Systems and Apple.

SanDisk Appoints SSD Business and OEM Marketing Leaders

SanDisk appointed Thomas Rampone as SVP of solid state drive (SSD) business, which includes SanDisk's Enterprise Storage Solutions (ESS) and Client Storage Solutions (CSS) organizations. Rampone joined SanDisk from Intel where he served for over 27 years in various engineering and executive roles. Most recently, Rampone was VP and general manager of Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group. Previously, he served as VP and general manager for Intel's Channel Platforms Group and the Desktop Boards Business.

Drew Henry has been named as SVP, OEM Marketing. Henry joined SanDisk from NVIDIA where he served in various executive roles, most recently as the general manager of the GeForce GPU business. Prior to NVIDIA, Henry held leadership positions at iBeam Broadcasting, Silicon Graphics and Failure Analysis Associates. He started his career in the technology industry with TRW.

Juniper Networks Names EVP, Platform Systems Division

Stefan Dyckerhoff, 39, EVP, Platform Systems Division of Juniper Networks, to leave the Company to pursue a career as a venture capital financier. Prior to re-joining Juniper, Mr. Dyckerhoff was at Cisco, serving as VP and General Manager of the Edge Routing Business Unit. Before that he was at Juniper serving in various engineering leadership roles.

F5 Networks Names Visa CIO to Board

F5 Networks  appoints Michael L. Dreyer, CIO, Global Head of Technology for Visa, to F5's board of directors. Prior to the formation of Visa, Dreyer was CIO of Inovant (Visa's technology division), where he oversaw the development and management of Visa's global systems technology. Prior to Inovant, Dreyer served as Visa USA's SVP of processing and emerging products, and SVP of commercial solutions for Visa USA. Before joining Visa in 1998, Dreyer was VP of the electronic commerce center of excellence for American Express' travel-related services.

Brocade Names CTO for its Service Provider business

Networking equipment company Brocade named networking industry visionary David Meyer to the position of Service Provider business CTO and chief scientist. A foremost authority on software-defined networking (SDN), Internet routing and OpenFlow technologies, Meyer will play an integral role in the shaping of Brocade's cloud networking, advanced routing and application delivery strategy. Prior to joining Brocade, Meyer held various positions at Cisco, most recently as a Distinguished Engineer focused on examining the growing role of OpenFlow and SDN within the enterprise and service provider markets. Meyer is an active participant and influential force within a number of industry associations, including the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the North American Network Operators' Group (NANOG) and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF).

AMD Adds Director From Abu Dhabi Investment Firm

Advanced Micro Devices elected Ahmed Yahia Al Idrissi to the company's board of directors as a second representative of Mubadala Development Company. Yahia currently serves as executive director of Mubadala Industry. Prior to joining Mubadala, Yahia was a partner at McKinsey where he co-led the firm's Principal Investor practice. He was also the managing partner of McKinsey's Abu Dhabi practice.

Amkor Technology’s CEO Retires

Semiconductor and digital storage card technology company Amkor Technology ‘s President, CEO and Director of the Company, Ken Joyce, 65, will retire by the end of 2013, following more than 15 years of service to the Company. The Company is looking for his replacement. Previously, Mr. Joyce served as President and COO, EVP and COO, EVP and CFO and as EVP and Chief Administrative Officer. He joined the Company as VP and Operations Controller in 1997.

Former Cisco Exec Joins Globecomm Systems to Lead New Market Channel

Globecomm Systems, the satellite-based managed network solutions company, hired Brian Morris in the newly created role of SVP of Media and Entertainment market channel. Prior to joining Globecomm Systems, he served as VP of Global Business Development for Cisco Systems Digital Media Networks Division. Brian was with Cisco for 18 years and previously had served as VP of R&D, Operations and Product Management at Scientific Atlanta/Cisco. Before joining Cisco, Brian held various domestic and international positions with Siemens Telecommunications Division in research and development, product management and operations.

Inphi Corporation Names New Board Members

Inphi Corporation named Bruce McWilliams to its Board of Directors. Bruce McWilliams is President and CEO of SuVolta. Prior to joining SuVolta, he was President and CEO of Tessera Technologies, which he took public through a highly successful IPO. Mr. McWilliams also served as President and CEO of S-Vision, a liquid crystal-on-silicon based display technology company, SVP of Flextronics International, and President and CEO of nCHIP, a multichip module packaging company that was acquired by Flextronics.

David Liddle has also joined the Inphi Board. David Liddle joined U.S. Venture Partners in 2000, after retiring as president and CEO of Interval Research Corporation. Prior to co-founding Interval, Mr. Liddle founded and served as CEO of Metaphor, which was acquired in 1991 by IBM, where he became VP of Business development for IBM Personal Systems. Mr. Liddle's extensive experience in research and development includes 10 years at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) and as head of the System Development Division (SDD).

OCZ Sales Chief Leaves

Richard Singh, 52, left his position of Chief Sales Officer of OCZ Technology Group. He served as SVP of Sales at the company, joining in 2005. He previously served as OEM Sales Director for Corsair Memory, VP Sales for On-Stream Data, and in various sales and sales management positions at industry leading high-tech companies including Samsung storage division, Toshiba disk products division, and Seagate Technologies.

SMC Names General Manager of Latin America

SMC, the developer of cable gateway and other networking equipment, named Gary J. Brust as General Manager of Latin America. Brust has previously served at companies such as Cisco, Scientific-Atlanta, Terayon and ADC Telecommunications. The company said Brust has previously help lead Latin American sales for those other companies, and will help lead the firm during a period of major growth in Latin America.

On-Ramp Wireless Appoints CEO

Wireless communications module developer On-Ramp Wireless named Kevin Hell, the former CEO of DivX, as President and CEO. Hell headed by DivX until its acquisition by Sonic Solutions in 2010, and most recently was chairman of the EvoNexus startup incubator run by CommNexus. Hell sits on the boards of Hold-Free Networks, Perminova, MicroPower Technologies and Pixon Imaging.

Cincinnati Bell's Data Center Subsidiary Hires Chief Commercial Officer

CyrusOne, one of the largest and fastest growing data center operators and wholly owned subsidiary of Cincinnati Bell , named Tesh Durvasula as the company's Chief Commercial Officer. Most recently he served as Chief Marketing and Business Officer at QTS, which is a leading and well-respected data center provider. Prior to QTS, he was a co-founder and COO of NYC-Connect, a privately held interconnection business which was sold to Digital Realty Trust and Telx. In addition, he previously served as VP of Sales at Abovenet, a leading provider of high bandwidth connectivity solutions for businesses and carriers that was recently sold to Zayo.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
