Rackspace US Names Interim Leader for Enterprise Business
Rackspace US, the US operating subsidiary of Rackspace Hosting, appointed Chris Cochran as its interim General Manager, Enterprise. Mr. Cochran replaces Jim Lewandowski, Rackspace's SVP and General Manager, Enterprise who leaves. Mr. Cochran joined Rackspace in 2008 and is moving from his current role as VP, Strategy. Previously, he helped launch the Rackspace Enterprise Services group, and served as General Manager for the Rackspace Managed Colocation business. Before coming to Rackspace, he worked for Electronic Data Systems in various strategy and operations roles, including as an enterprise account executive.
Web Host Tata Communications Names CEO of Growth Ventures
Communications and web hosting company Tata Communications appointed Rangu Salgame its CEO of growth ventures. The move comes a month after Tata’s IT services division, TCS acquired cloud hosting startup Computational Research Laboratories. Salgame has significant leadership experience, having served in key roles as President - India and Asia Operations and GM - Emerging Markets Group at Cisco, President, Internet Business Unit at Verizon and Management Consultant for PwC.
Digital River CEO Steps Down; iCEO named
Global cloud-commerce and marketing solutions company Digital River’s Founder Joel A. Ronning, 55, has stepped down as CEO and will also retire as Chairman at the end of the year. Prior to founding Digital River, Ronning served as Chairman and CEO of Tech Squared, a direct catalog marketer of software and hardware products. He also previously founded and served as CEO and Director of MacUSA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tech Squared. Additionally, he served as a Director of S2 Technologies, and Jasc Software.
Lead Independent Director Thomas F. Madison, 76, has been named interim CEO. The board of directors is conducting a search for a permanent CEO. Mr. Madison has been a Director of Digital River since 1996. He is President and CEO of MLM Partners, a consulting and small business investment company. He has served as Vice Chairman and CEO of Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company, President of US WEST Communications Markets, and President and CEO of Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. He is currently a Director of Rimage Corporation and Spanlink Communications.
SeaChange International Hires Chief Architect and VP-Strategic Marketing
SeaChange International named Sam Ganesan as Chief Architect . Ganesan came to SeaChange from Motorola, where he served as a distinguished member of the technical staff and engineering director, and earlier, a member of the technical staff in the connected home technology office. Prior to Motorola, Ganesan was engineering director at Iperia, director of engineering support at North Point Communications, technology advisor to a major venture capital firm, and director of systems operations to medium-sized enterprises
SeaChange also appointed Alan Hoff as VP-Strategic Marketing. Hoff rejoins SeaChange where he earlier served the company as VP - worldwide product marketing. He returns to SeaChange from Avid Technology, where he served as director of the media enterprise segment. Prior to his work at Avid, Hoff was CEO of Cinedeck, a leading on-camera disk recorder startup. Earlier in his career, Hoff worked in technical marketing at Intergraph and Media 100.
Former Fox Interactive Exec Joins Keynote Systems’ Board
Keynote Systems, the provider of Internet and mobile cloud monitoring and testing solutions, appointed Mark Jung to its board. Currently an operating partner at Khosla Ventures, Mark brings over 20 years of successful Internet and mobile CEO and entrepreneur experience to Keynote. Prior to Khosla Ventures, he served as COO of Fox Interactive Media where he was responsible for its Internet business, including MySpace, IGN Entertainment, AmericanIdol.com and FoxSports.com. He took the post at Fox Interactive Media after its parent company, Newscorp, purchased IGN Entertainment, a company he founded and took public at the height of the Internet boom in the 1990s. Earlier in his career, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey. He currently serves as a member of the board of DataXu, Inmar, Ness Computing, SeatMe, and WGT Media.
Cloud Host Cbeyond Names Industry Veterans to Board
Cloud hosting provider Cbeyond has named Jonathan Crane and Marvin Wheeler to its board of directors. Crane has more than 35 years of industry experience with a focus in cloud computing, having been the chief commercial officer at IPsoft, where he oversaw growth strategies for the company. Before joining IPsoft, Crane served as president and chairman of the board at Savvis, where he was responsible for leading the company’s cloud business. Prior to Savvis, he was chief strategy officer at Worldcom.
For the past 25 years, Wheeler has worked in the industry with a focus on cloud hosting, data center operations, IT efficiency and IP services deployment. He most recently served as COO and chief strategy officer of Terremark. He has also served on the Intel Capital Advisory Board and the Microsoft Service Provider Advisory Board. Wheeler was the founding member, secretary, executive director and chairman of the board of the Open Data Center Alliance, a non-profit group that promotes the growth of cloud computing through open, interoperable standards.
Limelight Networks Names Former Oracle Exec and Cloud Service Delivery Veteran as COO
Content delivery network operator Limelight Networks named Indu Kodukula the company’s newly created role of COO. Kodukula most recently served as EVP of products and CTO for SunGard Availability Services. In this role, he helped drive product development and launch the first enterprise infrastructure-as-a-service cloud platform in the industry. He previously served as VP of products for Oracle’s communication service delivery platform.
ViaWest Names Co-Founder/COO as CEO
Colocation, cloud and managed hosting provider ViaWest appointed Nancy Phillips, the company’s co-founder and COO, its new CEO. Phillips will replace outgoing CEO Roy Dimoff, another co-founder, who will remain chairman of the ViaWest board. Prior to ViaWest, Phillips was the VP of Operations for RMI.net, where she was integral to the company’s regional leadership position and growth. Prior to helping RMI.net back to profitability, Phillips consulted for numerous successful telecommunications companies, including France Telecom, MCI and Qwest. She began her career with Teleconferencing Systems Canada as VP of Sales and Operations.
CyrusOne Names Chief Commercial Officer
The data center operator named Tesh Durvasula the company’s chief commercial officer. In his new role, Durvasula will be responsible for leading strategy, marketing and sales for CyrusOne. He most recently served as chief marketing and business officer at data center provider QTS. Before joining QTS, Durvasula was a co-founder and COO of interconnection business provider NYC-Connect, which was eventually sold to Digital Realty Trust and Telx. Durvasula also served as VP of sales at connectivity solutions provider Abovenet, which was recently sold to Zayo.
Layered Technologies Names VP of Client Services
Web hosting provider Layered Technologies appointed John Saunders the company’s VP of client services for Layered Tech’s worldwide operations. The move follows Layered Tech’s acquisition of government cloud hosting provider New World App. Saunders has had 14 years of experience working in the fields of IT and web hosting services. He joined Layered Tech in 2011, serving as senior director of managed services client support. Prior to that, he served as director of operations center at cloud infrastructure provider Savvis, working in the company’s London office. He spent nearly 10 years at Savvis, working in a variety of roles including EMEA installation engineer, EMEA service delivery manager, and service desk manager of USA.
Nimble Names Fox Digital Media Tech Exec as VP Engineering
Los Angeles-based Nimble, the developer of cloud-based, CRM and contact management tools, has hired a new VP of Engineering, the company said today. Nimble said it has hired Brandon Vallade, former VP of Technology at Fox Digital Media to the position. Nimble said that Vallade had headed up the 40-plus digital media team building websites and mobile apps for FOXSports.com, FOX.com, AmericanIdol.com and other Fox Network Group digital properties.
