High-Profile Facebook Execs Depart
Joanna Shields, 50, Facebook’s VP and managing director of the social network’s operations in EMEA, has left the company to become CEO of Tech City Investment Organisation, a high-tech economic development group in London, the Telegraph reports. Prior to joining Facebook in 2010, she served as CEO of Bebo Shields and assisted its sale to AOL.
Facebook Communications VP Joe Lockhart, 53, has also departed. Lockhart is perhaps most famous for his time spent inside the White House as communications secretary for President Bill Clinton during the latter half of Clinton’s second term in office. After the administration ended, Lockhart went on to become one of the founding members of the Glover Park Group, a D.C.-based consultancy firm which has worked on campaigns for Microsoft, Verizon and Pfizer.
priceline.com Makes Board Changes
Jeffery H. Boyd , 55, President and CEO of online travel company priceline.com, will assume the additional role of Chairman, beginning next year. He will succeed Ralph M. Bahna , 69, who will retire. Mr. Boyd has been President of priceline.com since 2001 and CEO since 2002. He previously served as COO, EVP, General Counsel and Secretary of priceline.com. Prior to joining priceline.com, Mr. Boyd was EVP, General Counsel and Secretary of Oxford Health Plans.
Mr. Bahna, who participated in the formation of priceline.com and has served as Chairman of the Board since 2004, is a longtime executive veteran of the travel industry. In addition to priceline.com, he has served as Chairman of Masterworks Development, a company he founded in 1992 that developed the Club Quarters hotel group. He also served as the CEO of Cunard Lines and the Cunard Group of Companies. Prior to Cunard, Mr. Bahna was employed by Trans World Airlines, where he developed and launched its highly successful Ambassador Service.
The Board named current Director James M. Guyette, 66, to serve in the newly created role of Lead Independent Director. Mr. Guyette has been a Director of priceline.com since 2003. Mr. Guyette is currently Chairman, President and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America. Before joining Rolls-Royce, he served as EVP – Marketing and Planning for United Airlines. Mr. Guyette is also the Chairman of the Board of PrivateBancorp.
The Board also named Thomas E. Rothman, 57, departing Chairman and CEO of News Corporation's Fox Filmed Entertainment Group, as priceline.com's newest Director. Before joining Fox Filmed, which he served for 18 years, Mr. Rothman served as President of Worldwide Production for the Samuel Goldwyn Company, and EVP, Production of Sony’s Columbia Pictures. He also served as a partner with Frankfurt, Kurnit, Klein & Selz.
Senior Leadership Changes Continue at Yahoo!
Kenneth Goldman, 63, joined Yahoo! as CFO replacing ugoing CFO Timothy Morse, 43, who will remain with the Company for a transition period. Goldman joins Yahoo! from Fortinet, a provider of threat management technologies, where he served as CFO. Prior to Fortinet, Goldman spent nearly six years as SVP of finance and administration and CFO of Siebel, until the company's acquisition by Oracle. He has held CFO positions at [email protected], Sybase, Cypress Semiconductor and VLSI Technology.
Yahoo! has hired Henrique de Castro, 47, Google's VP of worldwide Partner Business Solutions, as its new COO. He will be responsible for strategic and operational management of Yahoo!'s sales, operations, media and business development worldwide. Before joining Google, De Castro managed Dell's Western European sales and business development activities, and before that was a consultant at McKinsey.
Yahoo’s Chief Technical Officer Ashfaq Munshi has also left the company, joining the company only about a year ago. He is the founder and continues to be the CEO of Terabitz. Prior to that, Ash was CEO of Level5 Networks. He has founded four other Silicon Valley companies: Radiance, Vivecon, SpecialtyMD (acquired by Ventro), and Commerce Engine (became Ariba). Earlier in his career, he served as a corporate VP at Applied Materials, and VP and GM of the Enterprise Business Unit at SGI. He began his executive career at Oracle where he was director of development and marketing.
The company’s Media Products Head, David Rice, VP of media properties, has left to take over as SVP and GM of CBS Interactive Games. Hired in 2010, the former Microsoft exec was the key media product manager in charge of strategy and execution of Yahoo’s home page, news, sports, finance, entertainment, lifestyle, games and more.
Head of Yahoo’s Omg! and Yahoo TV, Liz Coughlin, left to run business operations at next-gen digital content site Young Hollywood.
Avnet Express Promotes Tech Exec to Global e-Commerce Merchandizing VP
Avnet Express, the e-Commerce engine for Avnet Electronics Marketing, promoted Andy Thorne to VP, global e-Commerce merchandizing. Thorne is a 23-year veteran of the electronics industry. Prior to joining Avnet in 1995, Thorne worked as a design engineer at GE Medical, contributing to the nuclear medicine team. Since joining Avnet, Thorne has held roles of increasing responsibility ranging from director of technical marketing to general manager for programmable logic devices in Avnet's Silica division.
AOL’s Patch Adds Two Execs in Strategy and Sales
AOL’s local Patch unit, the local news business, has added two new execs to its roster: Leigh Zarelli Lewis, who will join head of strategy and business development; and Jim Lipuma, who will run U.S. sales. Lewis was most recently VP of emerging businesses at Disney, and had also worked at IAC. Lipuma was most recently head of sales at Restaurant.com, and has also worked at Monster.com and R.H. Donnelley.
Groupon Appoints North American Sales VP
Rob Kilgarriff joins as VP, North American Sales & Account Management at local e-commerce marketplace Groupon. He comes to Groupon from GlobalScholar, where he served as SVP, Sales. Prior to GlobalScholar, he held various senior leadership roles in sales, marketing, product management, support and finance at companies including Reader's Digest, Plato Learning, Jostens Corporation and Project Achieve. Kilgarriff also spent more than a dozen years working within sales and technology capacities for GE Plastics and GE Capital, spanning strategy, advertising, customer segmentation and alternative channel management.
Payment Solutions Company Names International Leader
Wright Express named David Maxsimic, 53, as president of Wright Express International. David had previously served as the interim EVP, International for last few months. Maxsimic has held several executive positions over his 14 years at Wright Express including EVP of sales and marketing, SVP of sales, and VP and general manager for Wright Express Direct Card.
Global Interactive Marketing Provider Makes Board and Senior Leadership Changes
ExactTarget elected Julie Bradley, 43, as an independent director. Bradley is SVP, CFO and treasurer of TripAdvisor and has held executive financial leadership roles at high-growth technology companies including Art Technology Group (acquired by Oracle) and Akamai Technologies.
Andrew J. Kofoid, 47, was named as the Company's COO. He served as the Company's EVP, Global Sales since 2010. Prior to joining the Company, he was VP of U.S. Sales at Dassault Systemes, a global enterprise product lifecycle management software provider.
The company appointed Scott S. McCorkle, 46, as the Company's President, Technology and Strategy. Mr. McCorkle had served as the Company's COO since 2008, and earlier as the Company's EVP and VP, Technology and Product. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. McCorkle co-founded Mezzia, a company that provided on-demand software to manage the planning, budgeting, and execution of capital spending and project-based initiatives where he served as President and VP.
GCA Appoints Master Card and Former FIS Exec as CIO
Global Cash Access, a global provider of innovative cash access, cash handling solutions and business intelligence services for gaming establishments, hired Robert Myhre to the position of EVP and CIO. Mr. Myhre has 25 years of payments industry expertise, joining GCA from his previous position at Master Card as Group Head – Integrated Processing Solutions where he oversaw development for debit and prepaid processing solutions. Prior to his position with Master Card, he served as SVP and GM of a number of payment business divisions at Fidelity National Information Services, (FIS) and eFunds. While at eFunds, he also served as VP of Product Management, and Director of Business Development.
Google and Former Yahoo! Exec Joins Move’s Board
Move, online real estate and operator of the Move Network, named Jennifer Dulski to its Board. Dulski currently leads the product management team for shopping and product ads at Google. She joined Google in 2011 when it acquired Dealmap, a company Dulski co-founded and served as its CEO until its acquisition. Prior to Dealmap, Dulski served in multiple roles at Yahoo!. Her last position was Yahoo's group VP and general manager of local and commerce. Additionally, Dulski founded and ran Summerbridge Pittsburgh (part of the Breakthrough Collaborative), a non-profit organization that launches high potential, underserved middle school students on the path to college and inspires high school and college students to pursue careers in education.
TagLikeMe Names CEO and CFO
TagLikeMe, the Internet media and digital IT company appointed telecom, media and technology veteran Richard Elliot-Square, 65, to the position of Chairman and CEO of the Company. He has been a director of several companies in the UK and the US, and a founder of several publicly traded corporations, including Telecom Plus (UK) and Channel I (USA). Mr. Elliot-Square was a founding director of iCrave productions and also of Thurlestone Associates. During his tenure as a senior director and manager, he has dealt directly with many global Fortune 500 corporations negotiating terms for development and contracts, developing relationships and building new corporate and media ventures. Recently, Mr. Elliot-Square has been successful in the re-structuring and funding of several publicly traded companies in the United Kingdom and North America.
Experienced mobile and Internet technology development executive Peter Karsten has joined the Company as its new CFO. Most recently, he was the SVP of Starlounge, a Turner Broadcasting portfolio company based in London and Stockholm. His positions have ranged from VP in Citibank's Mobile Banking division to Executive Chairman and CEO with Cecure Gaming, an online gaming venture he founded in 2001. Over his career, Mr. Karsten has been directly responsible for developing technology divisions and integrating them within large partner environments. These include direct development with Sony Ericsson for Software-as-a-Service, co-marketing agreements with Vodafone, O2, Orange and T-Mobile, as well as licensing to Nokia and Philips.
Mindpix Sees Board Changes
Internet and entertainment content company Mindpix’s Chairman Roxanna Weber and COO and Director Mary Waldman have resigned. The company appointed Andrea P. Diaz to serve as Chief Creative Officer and a Director on their Board. Ms. Diaz, a European native, has worked with branding public and private corporations such as Morgans Hotel Group, Menin Hotels, Dolce&Gabbana, Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation (DCOTA), iStar Residential, and Chanel. Clicker appointed Dov Konetz, 30, to the Company's Board. He worked for Peoples Insurance Claim Center since 2003, handling appraisals and mediation negotiations related to insurance claims. Mr. Konetz holds a Florida Department of Insurance Adjusting License, which he has held since 2003.
Yippy Names New CEO as Former CEO becomes Chair
Yippy named Edward Noel, 45, as the Company's new CEO. Richard Granville, 40, the Company's previous CEO, has been appointed as the Executive Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors. Mr. Noel joins Yippy after serving as the Chief Revenue Officer of Alphabird, and Chief Revenue Officer / Chief Strategy Officer of Lycos. He was also the lead negotiator for the subsequent sale of Lycos to Ybrant Digital in 2010. He worked in the public accounting industry for both Price Waterhouse and KPMG, with a focus on companies in the Internet industry. Prior to that, Mr. Noel served honorably in the United States Marine Corps.
