GE Capital Americas Hires IBM Cloud Exec as CIO, Enterprise Architecture

GE Capital Americas named Snehal Antani as CIO, Enterprise Architecture. He joins from IBM where he was Cloud-Centric Platforms Architect, Strategist & Product Manager. Prior to that he served as Private Cloud Strategist at IBM, Senior Product Manager & Business Strategy Lead for WebSphere Cloud & Virtualization Technologies, Senior Managing Consulting & WW Technical Lead for WebSphere XD, Developer for WebSphere XD at IBM.

McAfee Promotes Field Engineering and Advanced Technology Head to CTO

McAfee promoted Mike Fey to Worldwide CTO from Head of Field Engineering and Advanced Technology organizations. Fey joined McAfee in 2007, having previously served in leadership positions at several technology companies like Worldwide VP of Presales at Opsware, Area Presales Director at Mercury, SE Manager at Mercury, Systems Engineer at Mercury and Developer at Lockheed Martin. He is the lead author of "Security Battleground: an Executive Field Manual," which provides guidance to executives who find themselves shouldering oversight responsibility for information security.

News Corp Names CTO; Chief Digital Officer Leaves

News Corp promoted News International (UK) CIO Paul Cheesbrough to drive its technology initiatives and reorganisation as CTO, as it begins separating corporate IT systems. Cheesbrough has gained respect for building out a product-centric technology team with some former Apple and Google staff at the UK news publisher since joining in 2010 from The Telegraph. He has also helped implement paid content initiatives at The Times and Sunday Times, and transitioned many News International systems to Google Apps.

Jonathan Miller, the Company's Chief Digital Officer since 2009, is leaving. He will serve as an outside advisor to News Corporation on digital issues through fall 2013. During his tenure, he revamped News Corporation's digital strategy as the Company transitioned away from standalone owned-and-operated web properties and refocused on digital content distribution and the monetization of its existing brands on emerging platforms.

Accenture Exec to lead IT Infrastructure at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America named Tom Mundt as the new VP of Infrastructure in the IT division. Before joining Allianz Life, Mundt was a senior executive with Accenture in Minneapolis, for eight years where he directed the IT service delivery center operations in multiple locations around the United States and managed 500 technology professionals. Prior to his tenure at Accenture, Mundt was a senior executive for four years with Best Buy, where he led more than 450 IT professionals, contractors, and third-party service providers. Mundt also held IT roles at American Express Financial Advisors, which is currently known as Ameriprise Financial, where he worked for 14 years.

PNC Names former Department of Justice Personnel as CISO; Promotes eBusiness Exec

PNC Financial Services Group named Holly Ridgeway as Chief Information Security Officer. Prior to this role she was Adjunct Professorat University of Maryland University College; Deputy Chief Information Security Officer and PM, Justice Security Operations Center at Department of Justice; Adjunct Professor at George Washington University; CISO, Office of Justice Programs, Department of Justice at Department of Justice; FBI Watch Commander Enterprise Security Operations Center at Department of Justice; FBI FISMA Manager at Department of Justice; and IT Specialist to CIO and IRM Director at FDIC.

Alok Satyawadi has been promoted to Vice President, eBusiness & Strategy, from his previous position as Assistant VP, eCommerce.

Energy Company Promotes IT Exec

Dominion Resources promoted Shannon Venable as VP-IT, from VP-General Financial Management. She was VP-Integrated Resource Planning before this. She also served as Director - IT Account Management and Director - Delivery Strategy at Dominion Virginia Power.

CIGNA Promotes Technology Exec to VP

CIGNA promoted Laurel Dillon as VP, Technology from his previous position as Senior Director, Technology. He is a former Director, Systems Output & Data Management of Aetna where he served for nineteen years. He also held roles like Senior Manager, Systems Automation & Technical Services; Manager, Data Center Operations’ Technical Support; Data Telecommunications Specialist and joined as a Information Systems Emerging Leadership Trainee at Aetna.

Xerox Hires Former Northrop Grumman Exec as CISO

Xerox named Mark Leary as Chief Information Security Officer. Leary will be responsible for the information security and governance strategy to protect Xerox intellectual property, assets and client information. Leary joins Xerox from TASC, where he was VP and Chief Information Security Officer. Previously, he was director and deputy Chief Information Security Officer for Northrop Grumman, and earlier held positions in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps and the Special Operations Forces.

STMicroelectronics Announces New Appointments in the Executive Management Team

Jean-Marc Chery, EVP, will take the additional responsibility of General Manager, Digital Sector, while maintaining his current role of EVP, Chief Technology and Manufacturing Officer at STMicroelectronics.

As a consequence of Chery's expanded responsibilities, Eric Aussedat, General Manager, Imaging and Bi-CMOS ASICs Group; Joel Hartmann, Corporate Vice President, Front-end Manufacturing & Process R&D, Digital Sector, and Philippe Magarshack, Corporate Vice President, Design Enablement & Services, are promoted to Executive Vice Presidents while maintaining their previous scope of activities.

Philippe Lambinet, EVP, Corporate Strategy Officer and General Manager, Digital Sector is leaving the company today to pursue other interests.

Gardner Denver Sees CIO Replacement

Brian R. Lurie has been named CIO at Gardner Denver. Brian replaces Bob Elkins, who has left the post. Before joining the company, Brian was SVP & CIO at Teleflex, VP-IT at Stryker, CIO at Penn Engineering and Bid Integrity Manager at Unisys.

Levi Strauss’ CIO Joins AECOM Technology

AECOM Technology, a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients, appointed Thomas Peck as SVP and CIO. Prior to joining AECOM, Peck served as CIO at Levi Strauss & Company. His 20-plus-year career also includes serving as CIO at MGM Mirage as well as an accomplished career at GE, culminating in the CIO role for NBC Universal’s entertainment business unit. Thomas replaces Raul Cruz at AECOM, who will stay on as Co-CIO until his retirement in a couple of months.

Sears Canada Hires Former Hudson’s Bay CIO

Sears Canada named Darlene Goren as CIO, replacing Gino Gualtieri, who has left the post. Darlene is the owner of interior decorating and redesign retailer On-TBS. Prior to that she was CIO at Hudson’s Bay, VP, Corporate Operations and Technology at Roots Canada, Director-IT at Dylex, and Assistant Director, Operations/ Director IT at Ports/Tabi International.

Jason Wilson has been named Divisional VP, Infrastructure. Jason replaces Satish Surendran, who has left the post to join IBM.

Manhattan Associates Hires Fiserv Exec as CIO

Manhattan Associates hired Kevin McDearis as CIO. He previously served as CTO for Fiserv Enterprise Technology. Prior to that, he was SVP, Engineering at Fiserv; SVP, Infrastructure Services; CIO, SW Division & VP, Information Enablement; VP, Data & Info Delivery; VP, Data and Application Strategy; VP, Business Information Technology; Manager of Workgroup Computing at Fiserv acquired company CheckFree; and Manager, MIS at Harbinger and Speer & Associates.

UTi Worldwide Names New CIO

Supply chain management company UTi Worldwide named Ronald W. Berger, SVP, Global Operating Processes, its new CIO. Berger, who will retain his current title, replaces Ronald S. Glickman who will partner with Berger during a transition period. Glickman will then pursue opportunities outside UTi, the company said. Prior to joining UTi in 2009, Berger was CIO at FedEx Trade Networks. He has also held various executive positions at UPS Supply Chain Solutions and Emery/Menlo Worldwide.

Dell Exec Named CIO at Stanley Black & Decker

Stanley Black & Decker named Rhonda Gass as CIO, replacing Hubert W. Davis. Previously, Rhonda served as VP, IT, at Dell. Prior to that she served as VP, Product Group at Dell and as a Software and Enguineering Executive at NCR.

Supervalu Promotes VP and former Best Buy Exec as CIO

Supervalu has named Kathy Persian as CIO. Persian replaces Wayne Shurts, Supervalu’s CIO since 2010, who made the decision to  accept a position at another company. Since joining Supervalu in 2010, Persian has held executive roles as VP for retail and merchandising systems and VP for planning, analysis and business process.  Persian directed business process and supply chain systems at Best Buy for almost six years prior to joining Supervalu.  Before Best Buy, Persian was a partner at Accenture.

Media Production Company Names CIO

Rick Broughton has been named CIO at Avid Technology. Rick replaces Bill Brown, who has left the post. Rick joins from CIRCOR International where he was VP and CIO. Prior to that he was VP/Director, IT Strategy at Dunkin Brands, CIO at Computerworld, and Director, IT at Ziff-Davis.

Las Vegas Railway Express Adds CIO to Leadership Team

Las Vegas Railway Express named Robert Gottesman as CIO. He has been developing ground-breaking products and services for a diverse group of industries for over 20 years. He has worked with leaders in e-business such as First American Financial, H&R Block Financial, GMAC, Ditech, Southland Regional Association of Realtors, Homestore (move.com), Thomas Brothers Maps and California Real Estate Technology Services and the National Association of Realtors. His CIO experience includes Virtual Mortgage Network and FlashUnderwriting.com. He was Co-Founder and VP of CITIDATA.

Win Global Markets Names CTO

The company appointed Oleg Golynker, 39, as CTO. Since 2009, he was the CTO, and is a co-founder, of Israel based Relevanti Media, a company engaged in offering supervised targeted content to websites. From 2007 to 2009, Mr. Golynker served as VP of Research and Development of Sportbuzz, a company engaged in sports websites offering fans an arena to share opinions and write articles and blogs. Prior to joining Sportbuzz, he served for six years as the VP of Technology with Variset.com, a print and content application services provider.

Univision Hires CIO from NBC Universal

Univision named Christopher Furst to the newly created position of EVP and CIO.  Mr. Furst will bring more than 15 years of experience in the media industry to Univision. Since 2007 Furst has served as EVP & CIO at NBC Universal, where he was responsible for global applications, infrastructure and IT operations supporting the company’s worldwide media portfolio. Prior to that role he held the position of SVP & CIO for NBC Universal’s global enterprise systems group. Before joining NBC Universal, Furst was a Partner with Navint Consulting, where he was responsible for the media & entertainment practice and its clients. In addition to his career accomplishments, Furst also served as a David Rockefeller Fellow, working with the Partnership for New York City, focusing on the improvement and effectiveness of public and private partnerships citywide. Furst serves on the board of NPower, as well as serving other non-profits. Additionally, Furst is a member of the New York City Investment Fund’s Media sector group.

Broadway Bank has named new CIO

San Antonio's Broadway Bank has named Bill Meek EVP & CIO. Meek previously served as the bank's SVP, Information Systems Manager. He joined the bank in 2003 as VP, IT Manager.

Shaner Hotels has a new CIO

Steve Murgas has vacated the position of CIO, and has left Shaner Hotels to become CIO of Larson Design Group. Steve Shala has filled his position at Shaner Hotels. He previously served as Director, Networks, Servers & Security with Fairmont State University. He is a former Network & Infomations Systems Coordinator at Penn State University.

Hilton Worldwide Promotes CTO to CIO

Bill Murphy has been promoted to CIO at Hilton Worldwide. Bill Murphy joined Hilton Worldwide as CTO earlier in the year to lead the company’s technology infrastructure, vendor management and run-time operations. Murphy was previously SVP and CTO of Travelport. Prior to his role at Travelport, he enjoyed a 22-year career in Plano, Texas at Perot Systems and Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in a variety of leadership positions.

First Financial Federal Credit Union Hires VP IT

Jay Arya was appointed as VP of IT at First Financial Federal Credit Union. Arya possesses an extensive background in IT and information security. Prior to joining First Financial Federal Credit Union, he was a VP in charge of information security with Investors Bank of Short Hills, New Jersey.  Arya also possesses CISSP, CISM and GISP technology certifications. He has diverse business experience within the finance and audit departments at several regional banks over the past 20 years.

NewComLink Names Former PayPal Executive as New CTO

Terence Spielman was appointed as CTO at NewComLink. Spielman, who most recently served as Senior Director and General Manager for PayPal’s Austin office, brings over 20 years of experience in technology as a developer, architect and a leader translating business needs to technology solutions. Terence has held leadership and executive positions at an e-commerce startup company, Visa and PayPal. Most recently Terence was responsible for leading global development teams at PayPal that were responsible for re-architecting the customer service platforms and customer database.

Virginia Tech Names CIO

Scott F. Midkiff, professor and head of the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, will become the university’s VP for IT and CIO. He was appointed head of the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2009, one of Virginia Tech’s larger units with 600 undergraduates, 400 graduate students, and more than $29 million in externally funded research. Midkiff was on special assignment as a program director at the National Science Foundation (NSF) before returning to Virginia Tech as department head. Early in his career he worked at the legendary Bell Laboratories and was a visiting research associate at Carnegie Mellon University.
