WebMD appoints Investment Expert and Shareholder Nominee to board

WebMD, the health information company serving through portals, appointed David Schechter, a nominee of Carl C. Icahn and certain of his affiliated entities, to its Board of Directors. Mr. Schechter currently serves as a Portfolio Manager of the Sargon Portfolio for Icahn Capital, and has held various positions with entities affiliated with Mr. Icahn since 2004. Prior to joining Icahn in 2004, he served as VP of Global Special Situations at Citigroup. He is currently on the board of directors of The Hain Celestial Group, a natural and organic food and personal care products company, Mentor Graphics, a leader in electronic design automation software, and Federal-Mogul Corporation, an automotive and industrial equipment supplier.

Medworxx appoints VP with Health Industry Expertise

Medworxx, the hospital software solutions company, appointed Lori Frampton, RN, MHS, Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, as VP of Patient Flow Process Improvement and Data Analysis. With 18 years of health industry experience including senior roles with Royal Victoria Hospital, Ontario MOHLTC and Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Frampton will leverage a wealth of performance improvement knowledge and patient flow best practices for Medworxx. Prior to joining, she was the Director of Community and Acute Quality Improvement Programs for Health Quality Ontario. She also led a provincial team responsible for the delivery of lean process improvement projects throughout Ontario hospitals.

CarePayment Technologies names Chair and Compliance Head

CarePayment Technologies, hospital payment software & service company, appointed William C. McCormick, 78, as Chairman of the Board. He has been a member of the Board since December, 2011. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Aequitas Capital Management, an affiliate of the Company.

The company also appointed Andrew N. MacRitchie, 48, as the Company's Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. MacRitchie has been a member of the Board since November, 2011. Mr. MacRitchie joined Aequitas in 2007 and currently is an EVP of Aequitas.

mHealth Company AliveCor Names President, CEO & Director

AliveCor, the developer of a breakthrough mobile electrocardiogram (ECG) device, appointed Judy Wade as President, CEO and a Director. Ms. Wade is responsible for building the organization, developing the strategic roadmap for AliveCor’s unique technology capabilities, and ensuring successful commercialization and regulatory clearance for AliveCor’s products. Upon 510(k) marketing clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the company plans to launch its ECG device for iPhone in the human health market as well as in the animal health markets. Prior to AliveCor, Judy was the President and CEO of Hands-On Entertainment, a leading developer of mobile and social applications. Before that, she was the VP of Strategy and Emerging Business at Linden Lab and an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Kapor Enterprises, the investment company of Mitch Kapor, a pioneer in the personal computing industry. Judy Wade was also a Partner at McKinsey & Company where she worked in McKinsey’s New York, Johannesburg (as an original founder), and San Francisco offices.

RemitDATA names CTO

Matthew Hargus, former director of software development at RemitDATA, a provider of comparative analytics for health care provider productivity and financial data, has been named CTO of the company. He will lead the company’s software development group and report directly to RemitDATA CEO Dave Ellett. Hargus joined RemitDATA in 2009 as director of software development. Earlier in his career, he was Development Team Lead at Parago, Senior Consultant at Countrywide and Greenbrier and Russell Consulting.

Allscripts Marketing Head named CEO at Healthcare Software company

Strata Decision Technology, a pioneer and leader in the development of innovative software tools for financial and business analytics in the U.S. healthcare market, appointed Dan Michelson as CEO. Michelson most recently served as Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer for Allscripts. Michelson's prior experience includes providing strategy and operations redesign consulting for many leading hospitals and health systems in the U.S. as well as serving in a number of roles at both Baxter and AstraZeneca.

Electronic Medical Records Company Hires Adroit Technology and HR Execs To Drive Growth

Practice Fusion, the  Electronic Medical Records (EMR) company, named Todd Martin as SVP of Business Development and Sheila Ryan as VP of People and Culture. The hires bring extensive experience to newly created executive positions in the company, which has grown by 30% in terms fo its employees in the first half of 2012 alone. The company’s aggressive hiring has been necessary to meet the rapid adoption of the EMR by small and medium-sized medical practices across the US.

Todd Martin brings more than 17 years of sales, software development, consulting and product training experience to Practice Fusion. Prior to joining Practice Fusion, Martin was the CTO and SVP at NewsRight, where he was responsible for all aspects of technology operations. As CTO and VP at the Associated Press, Martin helped define global product strategy, the product roadmap and supported delivery of products and services around the world.

Sheila Ryan brings more than 20 years of experience in leadership positions with both Fortune 500 and emerging companies. Prior to joining Practice Fusion, Ryan was the VP of HR at CBS Interactive. Ryan previously held HR leadership positions at Electronics For Imaging (EFI), EmployeeService.com and Bay Alarm Company.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
