T-Mobile US CEO Resigns to Join Vodafone Europe; replaced by COO as interim

The CEO of T-Mobile US Philipp Humm, 51, resigns from his post to be named as Vodafone's Head of Central and Northern Europe. He is now replaced by the T-Mobile US COO Jim Alling on an interim basis until the position is filled.

Mr. Humm moved to T-Mobile USA in 2010, taking over as CEO towards the end of the year. Prior to that he was with the parent company Deutsche Telekom, with the responsibility of managing the sales and service activities of the European mobile companies within Deutsche Telekom Group and was initially responsible for the company’s mobile business in Germany. Before joining the company he was Managing Director at Amazon Germany. Prior to Amazon he was responsible for the German discounter Plus, oversaw Tengelmann's Group Strategy and Controlling and was Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey. His professional career began at Procter & Gamble in 1982 where he worked in marketing management.

She also has been a featured speaker on leadership at numerous conferences and at Columbia University's MBA program.

Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
