Facebook COO Joins Company's Board; CTO leaving
Facebook added COO Sheryl Sandberg, 42, to the company's board of directors. Sandberg oversees Facebook's business operations including sales, marketing, business development, legal, human resources, public policy and communications. Prior to Facebook, Sandberg was VP of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google, where she built and managed the online sales channels for advertising and publishing and operations for consumer products worldwide. She previously served as Chief of Staff for the United States Treasury Department under President Bill Clinton and began her career as an economist with the World Bank. Sandberg also serves on the boards of The Walt Disney Company, Women for Women International, the Center for Global Development and V-Day.
The company’s CTO, Bret Taylor, 32, will be leaving the social network company for a start-up with Kevin Gibbs, founder and tech lead of the Google App Engine and creator of Google Suggest.
Mike Vernal will now oversee the Facebook platform, while Cory Ondreijka will head up mobile. Vernal joined Facebook in 2008 from Microsoft, leading the original Facebook Connect project and also working on platform efforts and the development of Open Graph. Ondrejka arrived at the company in 2010 through the acquisition of Walletin. He previously worked at Linden Labs on Second Life virtual worlds.
HP Names COO; Brings in New Software Head as Autonomy CEO leaves
HP has named Bill Veghte, 54, Chief Strategy Officer and EVP of Software Business, to serve in the newly created position of COO. He will be overseeing the company’s future strategy by working across HP to drive innovation and customer satisfaction. Prior to joining HP in 2010, he spent two decades at Microsoft in a variety of senior leadership positions from engineering to sales, most recent as the SVP of Online Services & Windows Business Group. In this position, he was instrumental in the delivery and launch of Windows 7.

Yahoo! hires Google Exec as Chief Revenue Officer as EVP,
Yahoo! has hired Google executive, Michael Barrett, 50, as EVP and Chief Revenue Officer, responsible for ad revenue and global operations. He joined Google following the company’s acquisition of online-advertising firm Admeld in 2011, where he was the CEO and later led the integration efforts.
He has previously worked at Fox Interactive Media as EVP and Chief Revenue Officer overseeing all properties including MySpace and FoxSports.com and worked closely with Yahoo’s current iCEO Ross Levinsohn. Before that, he served as EVP of Sales and Partnerships at AOL Media Networks and held senior sales positions at interactive leaders GeoCities and Disney Online.
EVP of Yahoo! Americas, Rich Riley, 39, is leaving the company in wake of recent changes. He oversaw all go-to-market activities and operations for consumers, advertisers and partners in the region. Senior Executives Step down from Nokia
Three of Nokia’s senior executives - Jerri DeVard, EVP and CMO, Mary McDowell, EVP of mobile phones, and Niklas Savander, EVP of Markets, are stepping down from their current roles.
Jerri DeVard, 53, who now serves as an Advisor to the company, served as the Principal of DeVard Marketing Group, SVP of Retail Markets Group at Verizon Enhanced Communities, SVP of Marketing and Brand Management of Verizon Communications, SVP of Brand Management and Marketing Communications, CMO of Citigroup, VP of Marketing for Revlon and Harrah's Entertainment, Director of Marketing for NFL's Minnesota Vikings.
Mary McDowell, 47, previously served as the Chief Development Officer and EVP of Nokia which she joined as EVP and GM of Enterprise Solution. Prior to Nokia, she served as SVP of Strategy and Corporate Development for HP, VP and GM of the Industry Standard Server Division of Compaq and VP of Marketing, Server Products Division of Compaq.
Niklas Savander, 49, serves as Secretary and Board Member at Waldemar von Frenckells Stiftelse. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board at Tamfelt, Director at Symbian and Nokia-Neu Communitech. He has held various leadership roles at Nokia Siemens Networks like VP Mobile Internet Applications BU and VP Marketing; and served as Director, Technical Systems EMEA, Global Accounts Sales Director, Channel Marketing Manager, Area Sales Manager, and Account Manager at HP.
SunGard’s new CFO is former IBM exec
Charles J. Neral, 53, has been named CFO at SunGard Data Systems, succeeding Robert F. Woods, who is resigning. Most recently, Mr. Neral, was CFO at SafeNet, a cyber-security company. Previously, he served as VP of finance for IBM's worldwide software business, and in a variety of financial roles across IBM's Sales, Server and Global Services organizations, including executive roles in Asia Pacific and at IBM corporate headquarters.
