Wal-Mart Names New Board Member – Google VP Marissa Mayer

Wal-Mart nominated Marissa Mayer, 36, a VP at Google, to its board of directors. Mayer has been VP of Local and Maps for Google since 2010. She oversees product management and engineering work for Google Maps, Street View, Google Earth and local search products. Mayer was also VP of Search Products & User Experience at Google. Mayer joined Google in 1999 and was the company’s first female engineer.

Former J. C. Penney CIO Named to the Board of Fossil

Thomas M. Nealon, 50, was appointed to the Board of Directors of Fossil. Currently, he also serves as a Director of Southwest Airlines. Most recently, Mr. Nealon served as Group EVP & CIO of J. C. Penney. Before J. C. Penney, he was the CIO of EDS (now HP), CIO at Southwest, and CIO at Frito-Lay, where he started his IT career.

SunTrust Banks Selects New Director: Donna Morea, Frmr Pres. – CGI Tech & Solutions

SunTrust Banks announced that Donna Morea, 56, has been elected to SunTrust's Board of Directors. Ms. Morea is a nationally recognized executive in IT professional service management. She served as President of CGI Technology and Solutions. She also serves on CGI Group's board of directors.

Fin Services Co. TIAA-CREF CIO Annabelle Bexiga Appointed to Selective Insurance Board

Selective Insurance Group elected Annabelle Bexiga to serve on the company’s Board. Ms. Bexiga is the CIO of TIAA-CREF, a Fortune 100 financial services organization and a leading provider of retirement services in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields. Ms. Bexiga is responsible for technology strategy, architecture, initiatives and solutions. Positions prior to TIAA-CREF include CIO at Bain Capital, Managing Director & CIO at JPMorgan Invest, and leadership roles at Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank.

Retailer Winmark Appoints Cloud-based SW Analytics CEO

Winmark named Lawrence A. Barbetta to its Board. Mr. Barbetta is the CEO of eLAB Analytics, a provider of cloud computing based industry-specific business intelligence applications. He previously served as SVP and GM at Siebel Systems and was SVP and GM at Platinum Technology. He also served as CEO of two software companies that were sold to Siebel and Platinum.

Jeffries Names IT Services CEO to its Board

Jefferies appointed Mr. Bernard Bourigeaud, 67, to its Global Senior Advisory Board. Mr. Bourigeaud was the founder and Chairman and CEO of Atos Origin, one of the largest IT services companies in the world.  Prior to this, he spent time as the head of the management consulting group at Deloitte Haskins and Sells. Mr. Bourigeaud holds positions on numerous boards, including CGI, Amadeus IT Holding and Oberthur Technologies. Mr. Bourigeaud is also an international operating partner of private equity firm Advent International and is a member of the Governing Board of the International Paralympics Committee. Mr. Bourigeaud was appointed Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, France's highest civilian honor, awarded by the President of France.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
