Wal-Mart Names New Board Member – Google VP Marissa Mayer

Retail giant Wal-Mart nominated Marissa Mayer, 36, a VP at Google, to its board of directors. Mayer has been VP of Local and Maps for Google since 2010. She oversees product management and engineering work for Google Maps, Street View, Google Earth and local search products. Mayer was also VP, Search Products and User Experience at Google. Mayer joined Google in 1999 and was the company’s first female engineer.

Walgreens New Board Member: Jan Babiak, Former E&Y Managing Partner

Walgreens announced that Jan Babiak, a retired managing partner for Ernst & Young, has been elected to its board of directors. Babiak has nearly 30 years of global management and board level experience. At Ernst & Young, she held managing partner and board level roles in the areas of technology, climate change and sustainability, and regulatory and public policy. Babiak is a certified public accountant in the U.S. and a chartered accountant in the United Kingdom. She is an Independent Board Member for Logica, an FTSE 250 publicly traded technology company, and is also Council Member of the governing body of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Yahoo Director Patti Hart Plans to Exit Board


Yahoo Director Ms. Patti Hart, 56, plans to step down. She joined the board in 2010 and is the current CEO of casino gaming manufacturer International Game Technology.  She has over 20 years of experience in telecom services and consumer broadband industries. Hart previously served in executive positions with Pinnacle Systems, [email protected], DirecTV, HomeCorp, Sprint and on the board of several public and private cos.

Avon CEO Sherilyn S. McCoy Elected to Company Board


Avon’s Board elected its CEO Sherilyn S. McCoy, 53, to the board. McCoy previously served for over 30 years with Johnson & Johnson, where she rose to Vice Chairman. In her most recent role, she oversaw the company's Pharmaceutical, Consumer, Corporate Office of Science & Technology, and IT divisions. Prior to that, she served as Worldwide Chairman of the Pharmaceuticals Group, Worldwide Chairman of the Surgical Care Group, and as Company Group Chairman and Worldwide Franchise Chairman of J&J subsidiaries, Ethicon and McNEIL-PPC. She has strong roots in marketing and R&D.

Citi New Board Member: Joan E. Spero, Frmr Clinton Sec. of State


Joan E. Spero, 67, is Citi’s new board member.  Ms. Spero is a Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Ms Spero served in the Clinton administration as Under Secretary of State for Economics, Business and Agricultural Affairs. She was also a U.S. Ambassador under the Clinton Administration. Ms. Spero held a number of executive roles at American Express.  Currently, she sits on the board of directors at IBM and International Paper. She is also a member of the Council of American Ambassadors, the Academy of Diplomacy, and the American Philosophical Society. Additionally, she serves as a trustee of the International Center for Transitional Justice, the Morgridge Institute for Research, and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation. She is a trustee emeritus of Amherst College, the Brookings Institution, Columbia University, and the Council on Foreign Relations.

Guided Therapeutics Names Director - Public Health Advisor Linda Rosenstock


Guided Therapeutics has named Dr. Linda Rosenstock, M.D., M.P.H., 61, to its board of directors. She is the Dean of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She is also a Professor of Medicine and Environmental Health Sciences and is a recognized authority in broad areas of public health and science policy. Dr. Rosenstock also served as Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and has been active in teaching and research in many developing countries and has served as an advisor to the WHO. Dr. Rosenstock also chaired the United Auto Workers/General Motors Occupational Health Advisory Board. In January, 2011, she was appointed by President Barrack Obama to the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion and Integrative and Public Health.
