Vodafone Selects Veteran as New CEO of Australia Operations

Vodafone Hutchison Australia, a joint venture which operates the Vodafone and Three brands, has announced that William T. Morrow, 51, has been appointed as CEO. He is a Vodafone veteran and previously led the firm’s operations in the UK, Europe, and Japan. Most recently, Morrow served as the CEO of Clearwire, an internet service provider in the U.S. Before joining Clearwire, he was the President & CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric. Prior to Pacific Gas & Electric, he served as CEO of Vodafone Europe and President of Vodafone KK in Japan. Earlier in his career, Morrow held senior executive roles at OuterBay Technologies, Airtouch International, and Belgacom Mobile. Currently, he serves as a Director of Broadcom and MobiTV.

VimpelCom Loses Head of Europe & NA Business

VimpelCom, a leading global provider of telecommunications services, announced the resignation of Ossama Bessada as EVP & Head of the Europe and North America Business Unit. He also served as the CEO of Wind Italy, an Italian telecom provider which is owned by VimpelCom. Prior to joining Wind, he held senior roles at Orascom Telecom Holding, including Commercial Group Chief Officer, Commercial Director, Marketing Director, and Group GSM Services Development Director. Earlier in his career, he served as the Commercial Director of Syriatel.

Network Solutions Company Appoints Two Directors

Level 3 Communications has appointed Steven Terrell Clontz, 60, as a Director. Currently, he serves as the Senior EVP of North America & Europe at Singapore Technologies Telemedia. Before joining ST Telemedia, Clontz was the CEO of StarHub for over a decade. Prior to that, he was the CEO of IPC Information Systems and President of BellSouth Asia/Pacific. Currently, Clontz sits on the board of directors at Equinix and InterDigital.

The company has also selected General Kevin Patrick Chilton to join the Board of Directors. Most recently, he served as the Commander of the U.S. Strategic Command overseeing operations for the U.S. Department of Defense nuclear, space, and cyberspace operations. Before that, he served as the Commander of Air Force Space Command, where he was responsible for all Air Force space and nuclear ICBM programs. Chilton also served as a NASA astronaut and as the Deputy Program Manager for the International Space Station. Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors at Anadarko Petroleum, Aerospace, and Orbital Sciences.

NII Holdings Recruits New CIO

NII Holdings, a differentiated provider of mobile communication services operating under the Nextel brand in Latin America, announced that it has appointed Dave Truzinski as VP & CIO. Most recently, Truzinski was the SVP & CIO at Leap Wireless/Cricket Communications. Prior to joining Leap, he was CIO for Cingular/AT&T Wireless' International Business. In the past, he has also served as CTO at ClickCollect and as CIO at Insurancenow.com. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of leadership roles at Cingular/AT&T Wireless.

Mobile Network Operator Hires CEO

TeliaSonera Group has appointed Robert Andersson, 51, as CEO of Sonera in Finland. Andersson is a longtime Nokia veteran who has held a number of senior roles during his time at the company, including SVP of Strategic Alliances & Business Development, EVP of Devices Finance Strategic Sourcing, EVP of Customer & Market Operations, and SVP of Nokia Mobile Phones in Asia-Pacific. From 2005 until 2009, he served as a member of the Group Executive Board at Nokia.

Former Google Controller Joins Mobile Apps Company

Mimvi has announced the engagement of Dipak Joshi as a Strategic Consultant. Currently, Joshi serves as the Head of Finance at FuzeBox, a provider of Internet and mobile unified communications solutions. Before joining FuzeBox, he was the interim CFO for the Jabber Group. Prior to that, he was the Controller at Google and the European Director of Accounting & Finance at eBay. While at eBay, he also served as the company’s Director of Acquisitions. Earlier in his career, Joshi was the Director of Shared Services at Siemens.

Computer Peripherals Manufacturer Adds to Board

Rimage announced that it has named Kimberly Nelson, 43, to its Board of Directors. Currently, Nelson serves as the EVP & CFO of SPS Commerce, a SaaS solution provider. Prior to that, she worked at Amazon.com in a variety of roles, including as Finance Director of Investor Relations and Finance Director of Technology. In the past, Nelson also held senior financial roles at Pillsbury and Nestle.

Dora Vell

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
