Board Member Leaves CenturyLink
CenturyLink announced the resignation of Edward Mueller, 64, from the company’s Board of Directors. Most recently, he served as the Chairman & CEO of Qwest, a telecommunications carrier which was acquired by CenturyLink in 2010. Before Qwest, Mueller served as the CEO of Williams-Sonoma. Prior to joining Williams-Sonoma, he held a variety of executive level positions with several telecom companies, including Ameritech, SBC International Operations, Pacific Bell, and Southwestern Bell Telephone. Mueller currently serves as a director at The Clorox Company and McKesson. Earlier in his career, he served as a Director of GSC Acquisition Company, Verisign, and Williams-Sonoma.
Yahoo! Selects Three New Directors
Yahoo! has appointed John Hayes, 56, as a Director. Currently, Hayes serves as EVP & Chief Marketing Officer of American Express. Previously, he was the EVP of Global Advertising & Brand Management at American Express and the President of Lowe & Partners. Earlier in his career, Hayes was a director of the Association of National Advertisers and Wyndham Vacation Resorts.
Peter Liguori, 50, the former COO & Senior EVP of Discovery Communications, has also been named to the company’s Board of Directors. Before joining Discovery, he was the Chairman of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Network. Prior to that, he served as CEO of FX Networks and as VP of Consumer Marketing at HBO. Earlier in his career, he worked at Saatchi & Saatchi and Ogilvy & Mather Advertising. He currently serves on the boards of The Topps Company and MGM Studios.
Yahoo! has also appointed Thomas McInerney, 46, the former CFO of IAC, to the company’s Board of Directors. Before being named CFO, he was the CEO of IAC's Retailing sector. Prior to that, McInerney was the EVP & CFO of Ticketmaster. Earlier in his career, he was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley. Currently, he serves on the boards of HSN and Interval Leisure Group.
Data Integration Company Loses Board Member
Informatica announced that David Pidwell, 63, has resigned from his position as a Director. Currently, Pidwell serves as a Venture Partner of Alloy Ventures. Before Alloy, he was the Founder, President, and CEO of Rasna, a mechanical design automation software company which was acquired by PTC. He also serves on the boards of Ensenda and Xactly.
ON Semiconductor Selects Two New Directors
ON Semiconductor announced that Teresa Ressel has joined its Board of Directors. Ressel is the former COO of UBS Americas group and CEO of UBS Securities. From 2001 to 2004, Ressel served at the U.S. Department of the Treasury as the Ninth Assistant Secretary and was designated by Presidential directive as CFO of the department. Before joining UBS, Ressel held a variety of roles at Kaiser Permanente, including VP of Corporate Audit and Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Programs, Chief Compliance Officer, and SVP & COO of e-Commerce. Earlier in her career, she also served at HP as a Corporate Program Manager.
Bernard Han, 46, has also joined the company’s Board. Currently, Han serves as the EVP & COO of DISH Network Corporation. Before being named COO, he was the company’s CFO. Prior to joining DISH Network, he was EVP & CFO at EchoStar and Northwest Airlines.
Chairman and Two Directors Resign from Analytic Software & Hardware Provider
Verint Systems announced the resignation of Chairman Charles Burdick, 59. Currently, Burdick serves as the Chairman & CEO of Comverse. Before joining Comverse, he served as CEO of HIT Entertainment, an entertainment distribution company. Prior to HIT, Burdick served as CEO & CFO for Telewest Communications, a leading cable television company in the UK. He has also held a series of financial positions with TimeWarner, US WEST, and MediaOne. He currently serves as a director at CTC Media and Transcom WorldWide S.A.
The company also announced that Paul Baker, 52, has resigned as a Director of the company. Currently, Baker serves as VP of Corporate Marketing & Corporate Communications at Comverse. Before joining Comverse, he held senior sales, marketing and corporate communications roles with Robotic Vision Systems. In the past, Baker has served on the Board at Ulticom.
John Bunyan, 58, has also resigned from the company’s Board. Bunyan serves as SVP of Strategy & Innovation at Comverse. Before joining Comverse, he was the SVP of Mobile Multimedia Services at AT&T Wireless. Prior to AT&T, he was SVP of Marketing at Dun & Bradstreet and EVP of Marketing at Reuters Americas. Earlier in his career, Bunyan served on Ulticom’s Board of Directors.

Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.
Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years. Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.
Vell holds seven worldwide software patents. Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.
She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
