Coca-Cola Appoints Former Yahoo! Director

Coca-Cola has elected Robert Kotick, 48, to its Board. Kotick is the President & CEO of Activision Blizzard, a global interactive entertainment software leader and video game publisher. He became a partial owner of the company in 1990 and became CEO in 1991. From 2003 to 2008, Kotick served as a Director of Yahoo! Currently, he is a director at the Center for Early Education, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Tony Hawk Foundation.

Social Networking Entrepreneur Joins Lifestyle Media Company

Scripps Networks Interactive has named Gina Bianchini, 39, as a Director. Bianchini is the founder of Mightybell, a developer of social software solutions. Previously, she was the Founder & CEO of Ning, a social platform which allows people and organizations to create custom social networks. Before founding Ning, she served as President of Harmonic Communications, an advertising tracking and measurement company. Earlier in her career, she worked for CKS Group, a marketing software company, and served at Goldman Sachs as a Financial Analyst in its high technology group.

Nordson has selected Arthur George, 50, as the company’s newest Board Member. Currently, George serves as the SVP & Manager of Analog Engineering Operations at Texas Instruments. Since joining the company in 1984, he has held multiple executive positions at the company, including VP & Manager of the High Performance Linear business unit.

Hotels Group Appoints Qualcomm Director


Choice Hotels International has appointed Barbara Alexander, 61, to its Board. Most recently, she served as a Senior Advisor to UBS Warburg and as a Managing Director of the North American Construction and Furnishings Group in the Corporate Finance Department of UBS. Currently, Alexander serves as a director of KB Home, Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, and Qualcomm. In the past, she was a director of Burlington Resources, Centex, Federal Home Loan Mortgage, and Harrah’s Entertainment. In 2003, Alexander was selected as one of seven Outstanding Directors in Corporate America by Board Alert magazine and was one of five Director of the Year honorees in 2008 by the Forum for Corporate Directors.

Body Central has appointed David Katz, 39, to its Board. Katz is the Founder & CEO of Sports Media Ventures, a digital sports company. Prior to founding Sports Media Ventures, he served as the Head of Sports & Entertainment at Yahoo! and as SVP of Strategic Planning & Interactive Ventures at CBS.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell has successfully completed numerous board member and C-level executive searches, including CEOs, COOs, CIOs, and Vice Presidents - at both public and private companies.

Prior to founding the firm in 2005, Vell was a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles' Technology practice for seven years.  Before her career in executive search, she worked at IBM for 11 years, managing software engineering organizations of 100 people and software sales organizations with revenues of $150 million. She has also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of IBM Canada for one year.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
