Executive Shuffle at AT&T
AT&T has appointed Marissa Shorenstein as President of AT&T NY. Prior to this appointment, Shorenstein served as President & CEO of Marissa Shorenstein LLC. Before starting her own company, Shorenstein served as the Director of Communications for Andrew Cuomo's campaign for Governor of NY in 2010 and as Press Secretary & Deputy Director of Communications for the State of NY under Governor David Paterson. Earlier in her career, she held PR roles under Vice President Al Gore, General Wesley Clark, and New York State Comptroller Carl McCall. Shorenstein serves on the Advisory Board of the Joan Shorenstein Center at the Harvard Kennedy School, the Board of Directors of the Phoenix House, and the Board of Directors of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
John Stankey is promoted to the newly created position of Group President & Chief Strategy Officer. Most recently, Stankey served as the President & CEO of AT&T Business Solutions. In this position, he was responsible for sales, marketing, and customer service operations for retail business, government, and wholesale customers of AT&T worldwide. Before being appointed to lead the Business Solutions division, Stankey was the President & CEO of AT&T Operations. Earlier in his career, he held other senior titles including CTO, CIO, President & CEO of AT&T's Southwest Region, and President of Industry Markets. He began his career in 1985 at Pacific Bell.
Andy Geisse has become Senior EVP of AT&T Business and Home Solutions. Before this appointment, he served as the company’s CIO. Prior to being named CIO, he held various titles within the company, including SVP of Enterprise Software Solutions, President of CellularOne Update NY, and VP & GM of the Oklahoma & West Texas region. In the past, Geisse has also served as the President of Startel Chile and GM & CEO of VTR Cellular.
John Donovan was named as the new Senior EVP of Technology & Operations. Before being named Senior EVP, Donovan served as CTO of the company. Prior to joining AT&T, he was the EVP of World Wide Sales, Services, and Operations at VeriSign. Before VeriSign, he served as CEO of inCode Wireless and as a Partner at Deloitte Consulting. Currently, he sits on the boards of inCode and 2Wire. He is the author of “The Value Enterprise” and “Value Creating Growth.”
Board Member Resigns from Telecom Company
Alaska Communications Systems Group announced the resignation of Annette Jacobs, 53, the company’s Lead Independent Director. Currently, she serves as the President of the West Area for Cricket Communications. Prior to joining Cricket, Jacobs was President & CEO of Door to Door Storage and Chair & CEO of SafeHarbor Technology. Earlier in her career, she held executive management positions at SafeHarbor Technology, Qwest Communications, Verizon Wireless, GTE Wireless, and Contel Cellular. Currently, Jacobs is the Co-Chair for the Seattle chapter of Women Corporate Directors (WCD).
Cincinnati Bell Subsidiary Announces New VPs
CyrusOne, an enterprise data center solutions provider, announced that Bill Williams has joined the company as VP of Network Services. Most recently, Williams served as the VP of IP Infrastructure for Terremark Worldwide, a data center company. Prior to joining Terremark, he served in engineering roles for QoS Networks, AduroNet, Madge Networks, and Direct Container Line.
Fred Holloway has been appointed as the new VP of Channel Sales. Before this appointment, Holloway served as a Sales Director for the Energy Segment at HP. He has also held the title of Service Principal for the Oil & Gas Customer division at HP. Prior to joining HP, Holloway worked at Digital Equipment in several sales leadership roles.
Josh Snowhorn has joined the company as the new VP & GM of Interconnection. Most recently, Snowhorn served as the VP of Business Development at Terremark Worldwide. Before joining Terremark, he was the Director of Business Development at Tower Contracting.
Wireless Phone Services Company Loses CFO
Leap Wireless announced that Walter Berger, 55, the company’s EVP & CFO, has resigned. Before joining Leap, Berger served as the EVP & CFO of CBS Radio. Prior to CBS, he was the EVP, CFO, and Director of Emmis, an owner and operator of radio stations. Earlier in his career, Berger also served as the EVP, CFO, and Group President of the Energy Marketing Division at LG&E Energy.
