GM & Ford Veteran Named CIO at Dell
Dell has appointed Adriana Karaboutis as VP & Global CIO. Most recently, Karaboutis was VP of IT at Dell. In this position, she supported product groups, manufacturing, procurement, and supply chain operations. Before joining Dell in 2010, Karaboutis served at the Global Manufacturing & Labor Relations Information Officer at General Motors and held executive positions at Ford. She is a member of the Manufacturing Executive Leadership Board and a past President of the Michigan Council of Women in Technology.
ADM Appoints CIO
Archer Daniels Midland, a food processing and agribusiness giant, has named Martin Schoenthaler as CIO. He joins ADM from ConocoPhillips, where he most recently served as the GM of Corporate Information Technology. While at ConocoPhillips, Schoenthaler also held the titles of GM of Upstream Information Services and Manager of Business & Technology Development. Earlier in his career, he served as the VP of Sales & Marketing at Allegro Development and as a Business Unit Executive at IBM.
Xerox Selects New VP & CIO
Xerox appointed Carol Zierhoffer, 51, as VP & CIO. Most recently, Zierhoffer was VP & Global Information Officer at ITT. Before ITT, she served as the VP & CIO for the IT Sector at Northrop Grumman.
President of Security Named at ScanSource
ScanSource, a provider of POS and barcode technology, promoted Tony Sorrentino from VP of Sales to President of ScanSource Security North America. Sorrentino previously served as the VP of Merchandising for ScanSource Security and as Director of Merchandising for ScanSource POS/Barcoding.
CIO Appointed at Veterinary Supply Company
MWI Veterinary Supply named Alden Sutherland, 48, as VP & CIO. Most recently, he served as President of Exploridor and as President of Pristine Pools and Spas. Before joining Pristine Pools, he was CIO at Jostens and Entegris. Earlier in his career, Sutherland held a variety of positions in Novartis’ Seed and Crop Protection divisions, including Director of IT in the US, Head of Finance & IT for the Asia Pacific, Head of Finance & IT for the Eastern Europe and Former Soviet Union Region, and Controller for Europe and Latin America.
Tutoring Services Provider Loses CIO
Xueda Education announced the resignation of Hai Yang as CIO. Due to the recent implementation of its enterprise resource planning system, the company has decided it is unnecessary to fill the CIO vacancy. Prior to joining Xueda, Yang was the VP of Products & Technology at ChinaHR.com Corporation, an online recruiting service web site. He has also served as VP of Xinyuan Education and as CTO & EVP of Oz Education Systems.
Performance Materials Company Appoints VP & CIO
Ferro has selected John Fleischer as the company’s new VP & CIO. Most recently, Fleischer was CIO for North American Tire at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Prior to Goodyear, Fleischer was the VP of Systems Integration at T-Systems North America, a unit of Deutsche Telekom. He has also served as an Officer in in the U.S. Army.
Shoe Company Hires CIO
Brown Shoe Company named Mark Schmitt as the company’s new CIO. Previously, he held various IT positions at Express Scripts and Anheuser-Busch. Before that, he served on SAP's Consumer Product Advisor Council. Earlier in his career, Schmitt held a variety of strategy and technology roles at UPS.
New SVP at Local.com
Local.com announced the appointment of Erick Herring as SVP of Technology. Most recently, Herring founded Townloop, a website which provides daily deals and discounts. Prior to Townloop, he served as the CTO of Adapt Technologies, a provider of patient transfer equipment and ease of care systems. In the past, Herring also held management positions at Zenith Insurance and Digital Evolution.
