Cisco Hires SVP for New Division

Cisco announced that it has hired Chris Young to serve as SVP of the newly formed Cisco Security Group. Young comes to Cisco from VMware, where he was the SVP & GM of End User Computing. At VMware, he was responsible for strategy, products, engineering, and delivery for all end user computing solutions. Prior to joining VMware, Young was SVP at RSA, the security division of EMC. He also sits on the Board of Directors for Rapid 7, a provider of security risk intelligence solutions.

Security Visionary Promoted at McAfee

McAfee has promoted Stuart McClure to serve as Worldwide CTO. Prior to this appointment, he was SVP & GM of the Risk & Compliance Business. He has also served as the SVP of Global Threats & Research at McAfee Labs. Before joining McAfee, he was the Co-founder & CTO at Foundstone, an information security provider which was acquired by McAfee. Earlier in his career, McClure served at Kaiser Permanente, E&Y, and IDC. He is also the author of the best-selling book, “Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets & Solutions.”

New CIO at Standard & Poor’s

S&P’s Ratings Services Business announced that CTO Joseph Sniado will assume the additional titles of SVP & CIO. Before joining S&P in 2006, Sniado was the MD for Application Development & Project Management at Moody’s Investors Service.

Nordson Promotes Veteran to CIO


Nordson, one of the world’s leading producers of precision dispensing equipment, promoted John Byers to CIO from his previous role as President of Nordson ASYMTEK. Since joining the company in 1994, he has held various senior roles, including Director of Corporate Development, Director of Supply Chain Management, and Manager of the Electronics Business Group.

Leading Security Solutions Provider Hires CIO


Diebold has selected David Ramsey to be the company’s new VP & CIO. Prior to this appointment, he was MD of Global IT & GBS Transformation at The Hackett Group, a strategic business advisory and finance strategy firm. Previously, he was the CIO of Kinetic Concepts and PSS World Medical.

Veteran Named SVP & CIO at American Airlines


American Airlines has promoted Maya Leibman, the former President of the Advantage Loyalty Program, to SVP & CIO. Prior to being named President, she served as the VP of IT Services. Leibman joined American Airlines in 1994 and has since served in a variety of roles in the Revenue Management, Interactive Marketing, and Employee Technology departments.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
