Yahoo Head Joins Apple

Scott Noteboom, the former VP of Data Center Engineering & Operations at Yahoo, has joined Apple. While his title at the company is unannounced, he will likely focus on helping expand Apple’s cloud computing efforts. During his time at Yahoo, Noteboom also served as the Chief Design Architect. Earlier in his career, he was the Senior Director of Operations at Abovenet, a provider of high bandwidth connectivity solutions. He has also served as the VP of Engineering at INVODA, an internet and voice provider which he founded.

SVP Leaves AOL

AOL announced that Jared Grusd, the company’s SVP of Business Development and Chief of Strategy, has resigned. Grusd has left to join Spotify, a digital music service. Prior to his time at AOL, he served as the Head of the New York Legal Team at Google and as Assistant General Counsel at CapGemini North America.

Board Departure at Mobile Broadband Services Company


Clearwire announced that co-founder Benjamin Wolff, 42, has resigned from its Board. Currently, he serves as the Chairman & CEO of Pendrell, a provider of intellectual property solutions. Before joining Pendrell, Wolff served as the EVP and Co-CEO of Clearwire. Earlier in his career, he was a lawyer at the Davis Wright Tremaine Law Firm.

New VP at Online Search Company

Stephen Hawthornthwaite, 41, has resigned as the VP of Corporate Development at InfoSpace. Prior to joining InfoSpace, he served as a Partner and MD at GCA Savvian, an independent investment banking firm. Before his six year tenure at GCA Savvian, he was the VP of Technology M&A at Robertson Stephens.

Dora Vell

Dora Vell is the Managing Partner of Vell Executive Search, a boutique executive search firm in Boston focused on recruiting technology executives and board members. Vell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the Boston CEO Roundtable. She has served on the boards of Framingham State, Entrepreneur's Organization, Goodwill, Mary Centre for developmentally handicapped adults, garage.ca, and RBC Capital Partners.

She has received an MBA from the University of Toronto, a Master in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Carleton. She has also completed the MIT Entrepreneurial Master’s program.
